When we think of the Olympics, we think of quality; we think of entertainment; we think of nerve-wracking thrillers. But, we are also reminded of a certain few athletes who have ruled the tournament and added multiple medals to their cabinet. Two-time gold medalist and defending champion, Andy Murray, is undoubtedly one of them.

No matter what his form is going into the Olympic Games, the British star is one to watch out for at the Olympics. Match after match, Murray proved why he is a former World No.1, both in London 2012 as well as Rio 2016. This year is no different, as Murray will look to make it 3 in 3.

Back in 2012, Roger Federer had just defeated the Brit to clinch his 7th Wimbledon crown before the London Games. But when it came to the gold medal match, Murray, who was pushed an extra mile by his home crowd, came out victorious. He managed to reverse the result on the Swiss genius to secure his maiden Olympic silverware. In 2016, the 3-time Grand Slam winner overcame Juan Martin del Potro in four exhausting sets to clinch his second gold in four years.

Murray to go for gold again

Come the Tokyo Olympics, Andy Murray will look to raise his country’s flag up high yet again. He will face stiff opposition in the form of Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas among others, but the Brit surely has the grit. Ahead of the premier international sporting festival, Murray has made clear his intentions.

Going for the big hat-trick, Murray said, “My goal is to try and win a medal for my country. Ideally a gold one”.?The British inspiration has not been in the best of nick lately, after recently returning from injury. Yet, he will go all guns blazing at Tokyo.
