When Jake Paul is around, expect the unexpected, wild antics, viral moments, or in this case, full-on supportive boyfriend mode. But even by his standards, what went down at the European Speed Skating Championships last month had fans doing a double take. The YouTuber-turned-boxer, better known for knockouts and internet chaos, was caught in a rare moment! Yes, this time for all the right reasons! The love of his life! Dutch speed skating star Jutta Leerdam had just secured her third European title, and upon seeing this, Paul was losing his mind in the best way possible.
The second Leerdam sealed her win, Paul sprang to his feet, screaming, fist-pumping, jumping, and even hugging her dad, Ruud Leerdam. Honestly, the man was all in, you’d think he was the one training for this moment his whole life. But while he had every reason to celebrate, it looks like Leerdam might not be giving him too soon chances to go full hype-man mode. WHAT?! Well, yes, she recently made a massive career decision.

Why Jutta Leerdam is skipping Poland?
Jutta Leerdam has been tearing up the ice since she was a kid, lacing up her skates and dreaming of the big leagues. By 11, she was already zooming past the competition, and now, at 26, she’s one of the best in the game. So naturally, fans were hyped to see her at the 2025 ISU World Cup Speed Skating event in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland. But plot twist! She’s out. Yep, just two days before the event kicks off on February 21, Leerdam decided to hit the brakes. Wait… WHAT?! Why on earth would she skip a major competition like this? Well, she’s just playing it smart.

Instead of racing in Poland, Leerdam is focusing on extra training for the World Speed Skating Championships in mid-March in Hamar, Norway. And she’s not the only one making this move. A bunch of Dutch speed skating stars including Femke Kok, Joy Beune, Antoinette Rijpma-De Jong, Jenning de Boo, and Beau Snellink are also sitting this one out. Why? Their spots for the World Championships (March 13-16) are already locked in, because of their performances at the National Championships. So rather than spending energy on another race, they’re taking the work smarter, not harder approach. But when did she?
The 2022 Beijing Olympics silver medalist crushed the competition. She reclaimed her Dutch national champion title in the 1000-meter race. And she was the only skater to break the 1:14 mark, flying across the finish line at 1:13.72. Oh, and this makes six straight national titles for her. Naturally, she celebrated the win on Instagram with a casual flex: “National Champion 1000 meters 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥.” Of course, where there’s Jutta winning, there’s Jake Paul hyping her up.

The boxer boyfriend wasted no time posting on his Instagram Story, proudly writing, “Champ champ again.” Short, sweet, and proof that this man is fully committed to his role as her No. 1 fan. Since 2023, the internet has been flooded with words whenever Leerdam’s name pops up. But how did this loving couple meet?
The only thing faster than Jutta on ice is Jake Paul falling for her
Before Jake Paul entered the picture, Jutta Leerdam was already a big deal—five million Instagram followers kind of big. But fate (or, more accurately, DMs) had other plans. Their love story kicked off when Jake slid into her inbox, inviting her onto his podcast. “Jake sent me a DM on Instagram and asked if I wanted to be on his podcast,” Leerdam recalled in Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson. “And I was like, ‘Okay, let’s do it. Could be good, could be nice.’” Spoiler alert: It turned out to be way more than nice. But it wasn’t exactly love at first sight—at least, not for her. Paul admitted that when he first tried flirting, she wasn’t feeling it.

In fact, she straight-up thought he was weird. And Leerdam didn’t hold back either, saying, “In the beginning, when he hit me up online, I was like, ‘No, you look like this arrogant d******* that thinks he can just get whatever he wants. Well, not me.’” Ouch. But as she got to know him, his humor won her over. “I never, ever expected to date him, like never. Of course, I didn’t know much about him—I could only scroll his Instagram and form an opinion like the whole world does. But he is the complete opposite.”
Fast forward to April 2023, and the couple went public, with Jake’s brother, Logan, humorously declaring, “I’m Dutch now.” Since then, their relationship has been going strong. For their one-year anniversary, Leerdam melted hearts with a compilation of their sweetest moments, captioning it, “I adore you, I’m so grateful for you, you make me the happiest girl in the world. The man with the best heart. Let’s never stop dancing, baby @jakepaul.” And from the looks of it, she meant it—because just as Jake Paul shows up to cheer her on at speed skating events, Leerdam has been right there at his fights, proving that their love isn’t just surviving the spotlight—it’s thriving in it.
