January 12, 2024, a helicopter descends on the finish area of the ski circuit in Wengen, Switzerland, to airlift a former World Cup champion and long-time partner of Mikaela Shiffrin who is being treated next to the finish line. The man had crashed so badly that he suffered nerve damage, a deep cut to his right calf, plus two torn ligaments in his shoulder. He tried to return after recovering, but an infection stopped and he had to get surgery. Doctors used a graft from his hamstring and part of his trapezius muscle to reconstruct his shoulder. A very complicated surgery indeed, but he had his support system, one that he is going to marry soon. When?
In an interview with skiracing.com, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde revealed with a smile that they might not decide on a wedding day as of now, but “we will find a date.” The site reported that the skier has his mother by his side for meals and his fiancée, Mikaela Shiffrin, who has also had an injury this season for emotional support. He said, “A lot of challenges, a lot of pain for both of us. It’s nice to just have someone to talk to that really knows exactly what to talk about.”
Mikaela’s crash in front of the home crowd in Vermont had also pushed the Goat of the sport to stay off the snow for a couple of months and undergo surgeries as well, it did give her PTSD as well. Does this not make them the perfect couple? Tragedies together.

The couple first met in 2014 and then reconnected in 2021 when Kilde came out to support Shiffrin after her father’s death and made it official that they were dating in 2021 through an Instagram post, later that year they walked the red carpet at the ESPY’s in New York City, together. Talking of the Red carpet, Mikaela once said, “It’s always nice to travel with my boyfriend. He keeps the mood light when we’re at events…makes workouts super fun, and looks pretty good on the red carpet himself.” Funny, loving, and supportive, such has been their relationship.

Kilde does not shy away from complimenting his Fiance either. He once told olympics.com, “We can share experiences and have conversations about things I can’t really have with anyone else. She has a lot of experience; I have some experience and we can make each other better.” Great on and off the snow Shiffrin!! Kilde also wrote her a great message for her 100th World Cup win.

Aleksander celebrates Mikaela Shiffrin’s 100th win from hospital bed
Mikaela Shiffrin sealed her name as the Goat on the snows of skiing when she claimed her 100th World Cup race in a slalom event in Sestriere, Italy, in February 2025. However, Mikaela might not like the goat debate. Wishing her for 100th World Cup Victory, the finance of the star made a post on Instagram starting the caption with, “Sorry Mikaela, I know you hate the GOAT talk – but sometimes your man should be allowed to brag” Now that is one good use of partner privileges by Alexander.
Sharing a picture of themselves from a pool, he wrote further, “Today you hit your 100th World Cup victory – wow! So proud of you, and good luck to whoever dares to chase that record ” No, just a joke though, the closest to her is Lindsey Vonn with 82 wins, you can see the difference. But these are merely just numbers to the 30-year-old.

Kindle further wrote, “But what stands out even more is the person you are every day – that’s far greater than any number of victories. As you best say yourself – «it’s just a number».” The post became more emotional for Shiffrin cause Kilde was not present with her live to celebrate it. The day Shiffrin got her 100th win, the very same day her fiance went into the OT for his shoulder surgery. He concluded the post with, “On another note, I watched this from a hospital bed – just after a planned and (hopefully) my last shoulder surgery”
