The Alpine Ski World Championships at Saalbach, Austria is one that the U.S. Ski Team will not forget soon. One outstanding performance after another, the team truly proved they are prepared to take on Milan Cortina in Feb 2026. Women skiers dominated the skiing scene in Austria by far, “The women’s squad won medals in four out of five events at the world championships in Austria and also had two fourth places“, reported the Daily Herald. The historical slalom winner, Mikaela Shiffrin placed fifth in the event, just behind colleague Paula Moltzan who finished fourth. Lauren is 22 and she’s got a lot of amazing things ahead of her.” US skier Breezy Johnson made her comeback after 14 months with a gold in the world championship downhill. But for Lindsey Vonn herself, not all of it was pretty.

What exactly happened? During the team combined event, Mikaela Shiffrin teamed up with Breezy Johnson to win gold. But the decision left the 40-year-old skier disappointed, as she had expressed interest in a potential Vonn-Shiffrin collab. Impulsively, the skiing sensation posted on social media, “Why am I not surprised?” and later, after deleting the post, admitted that this was unprofessional behavior. However, after Johnson and Shiffrin emerged victorious, Vonn said that it was a 100% right decision, and putting it all behind herself, the Minnesota native is excited to compete with her fellow skiers.
