After an enthralling Tokyo Olympics 2020, the Paralympians are have taken over at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Even after a year’s delay, the enthusiasm level of athletes is incredible.
From 1960 to date, Team USA has won the maximum number of medals in Paralympics. Hence, the USA is the powerhouse in both, the Olympics and Paralympics.
At Tokyo Paralympics 2020, the USA has clinched 49 medals, out of which 18 are gold, 19 silver, and 12 bronze. Swimming events have been the USA’s strongest feat as athletes have bagged 20 medals in the sport.

While Athletics is at the second position with 15 medals. Everyone around the world admires and appreciates the courage and determination of these athletes.
Team USA thanks Paralympics athletes for bringing home medals
Winning a medal at the Paralympics is a special moment for the athletes.?Team USA has been performing stunningly at the mega-event. Hence, the team USA sent their winning athletes a heart-warming message. What’s even more heart-touching for athletes is the consideration for visually impaired Paralympians.
Special Braile notes were stuck outside their rooms. This helped the athletes to read and feel the message on their own, rather than someone else reading to them.
Long jumper Lex Gillette, who is visually impaired, read the message sent to him in braille. The message sent was, “The United States Olympic and Paralympic committee congratulate you on your medal! Thank you for being a part of Team USA here in Tokyo- Team USA“.

Lex Gillette clinched the silver medal in the men’s long jump T11, track, and field event. Notably, Lex has been consistently winning since the Athens Olympics 2004. Since 2004, he has always won the silver medal in the event.
China leading the medal tally at Tokyo Paralympics 2020
Team China has outperformed everyone at the Paralympics. To date, the Chinese team has clinched 119 medals, more than their Tokyo Olympics medal count. Out of the 119 medals, 54 medals are gold.

Notably, China has taken up a very strong lead to win the games. Great Britain follows at the second position with 68 medals, out of which 26 are gold, 20 silver, and 22 bronze.
While RPC (Russian Paralympic Committee) is at third and Team USA is at the fourth position. China has clinched the most number of medals in swimming, i.e. 38, followed by 19 medals in athletics.
Belarus’s Ihar Boki is leading the individual medal tally. Boki has clinched five Paralympic gold medals in the swimming sport. Whereas, Lee Pearson of Great Britain is at the second position with three Paralympic gold medals in equestrian.

The Paralympics 2020, will reach the closing ceremony on the 5th of August. With China’s strong showing, they look like the clear winner, however, the tables can turn anytime with the unpredictability of sports.
