Noah Lyles is never going to be away from controversies, owing to the way he not only runs on the track but also because of his off-track activities. Surely, he won the 60m finals at the New Balance Grand Prix in style with a time of 6.52 seconds, and he was on cloud nine after it. However, everyone wins races once in a while in track and field; Lyles wanted to do something different.

The moment he won the 60m finals, he pulled out a note. And what was written on it? “Tyreek could never.” Ouch! Now, not only does this sting the NFL star, but also his legion of fans who criticized Lyles at every opportunity; especially after he denied racing him multiple times.

However, was that all from the 100m Olympic champion? Not really. In the post-game interview with NBC, the track and field star showed no mercy with his words for Tyreek Hill, stating, “Hey, when you’re ready to actually put some words down and you’re actually ready to race, see me. I’m right here. I ain’t going nowhere. But all I know is your football season’s over. You got no excuse now.” Sting after sting! Noah Lyles evidently knew what he was doing with these words during the interview! He really wants that race now and so do we!

But was that all from your 27-year-old? Nope, he got more. Meanwhile, Lyles shared his feelings about the venue’s vibe, stating, “Don’t you know? It’s the crowd. The stronger the crowd, the faster I run. The stronger the competitors, the faster I run. It’s the energy.”

Whenever Lyles comes to a stadium, he demands only a single thing – support from the audience. This time though it was just indoor, but the crowd was no less than crazy to see the 100m Olympic and World Champion in action in the 2025 season.

So how was the race? Noah Lyles completely destroyed the competition with a time of 6.52 seconds, followed by Terrence Jones in second with 6.57 and PJ Austin in third with 6.60. This indoor race win was no less than a statement from the 27-year-old, and he knew exactly whom to target, as his competition in track and field has gotten rarer.

Indeed, he left no crumbs, as everything was directed towards his rival, Tyreek Hill. It’s nothing new for them, as it’s been a while since they have had their beef over a special race that is yet to happen.

Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill have a good history

Good history doesn’t mean a good relationship, but something the fans will want them to fight over on the track. Their feud against each other began way back during the Olympic Games. Indeed, it was also the time when Tyreek Hill asserted he could easily defeat the 100m Olympic champion if given a chance, that too in the 50-yard dash. Converting it to meters, it’s around 45, and challenging Noah Lyles to a short race like this is surely bold.

“Sign the contract and lock in that 50-yard race,” Hill posted on X, and how did Lyles react to it? “The man dodges smoke. If he’s serious about it… you’ll see me on the track,” Lyles said boldly to the challenge the NFL star wanted. However, the two stars never got into a race, and before it, the Olympic champion also participated in a charity race against YouTube streamer IShowSpeed.

However, right after his race with IShowSpeed, the heat between the two escalated when Hill commented about the closeness of the race, stating, “And track athletes think he gone beat me.” But did Lyles just let it go? Absolutely not! “Awww, feeling left out. I’ll dance across the line on you too,” said the 100m Olympic champion. 

Indeed, many criticized Noah when they saw how close IShowSpeed was in the race. However, track legends like Justin Gatlin pointed out it was only the off-season, and the timing in this charity race doesn’t matter. Every time Hill attempted to gain an advantage over the Olympic champion, Lyles consistently responded boldly. The events at the New Balance Grand Prix serve as a clear statement.

At this point, his only desire is a race to end the rivalry.
