With Baltimore Orioles’ Gunnar Henderson and Cincinnati Reds’ Elly De La Cruz, he is the third player to show up on the cover. A stunning feat! You can bet. In the franchise’s 20-year history, this is the first time it has three rising stars on the cover. On Instagram, Skenes expressed his joy at that. 

In his post, the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher wrote, “3 is the magic number. Excited to share the cover of @mlbtheshow with @la_cocoa_____18 & @g_henderson002.” Livvy, meanwhile, joined the party. First, in the comment box, she wrote, “Olivia Dunne’s comment: Can’t wait to hit nukes off u babe.” Later, she went to her Instagram story to carry forward the glee. How? 

On her Instagram story, the 22-year-old influencer wrote, “& suddenly I like video games [emoji].” In the same story, she re-shared the cover photos of the game’s upcoming installment. So, that’s the change in her personality. She has started to prefer video games. Someone who chose gymnastics as her primary sport will attempt to play the MLB video game, featuring her boyfriend as the main character. An unexpected change, right? In his rookie year, Paul Skenes has an enviable 170 strikeouts in 133 innings with a 1.96 ERA. That obviously marked him as an expected element on the cover of The Show 25. But Elly De La Cruz and Gunner Henderson have been no less in amassing numbers. Playing for the Orioles, Gunner had the pride of being the American Rookie of the Year. On the other hand, De La Cruz concluded his last home season with 25 home runs, 67 stolen bases, and 76 RBIs. So those numbers made it to a three-way fight to make it to the prime limelight. 

The two seniors, however, boasted of making it to the cover of the game after the initial news broke. They uploaded their comments on Instagram. But Skenes didn’t keep it smooth for them. 

On January 27, the pitcher posted on Instagram, “This is Paul Skenes. Gunnar, Elly, I heard you guys claiming the cover of MLB The Show, and just let you know that the cover is mine. So let’s settle this before the cover drops.” And guess who came in the middle waving a flag? Olivia Dunne. Beneath Skenes’ post, she wrote, “Things are getting heated.” She smelled the spice and made her presence marked. And now, she has just changed her habit for her man! Isn’t it a new couple goal?
