The words “So Win” made waves during Nike’s Super Bowl campaign, and last Sunday (March 9), they found a new stage—Pauley Pavilion. The face of that campaign? None other than Jordan Chiles. As if the connection wasn’t poetic enough, Nike handed out 2,000 posters featuring Chiles and those words, which set the scene for an unforgettable night. So was it a night of gymnastics with a tinge of recalling eye memory of the Super Bowl? Hold your answer!
But boy! Chiles didn’t just show up—she showed out. Dropping an astonishing 39.750 all-around score, she delivered the highest score of the season in the Big Ten Conference, making UCLA’s showdown against No. 12 Stanford a one-woman highlight reel. But wait! Here’s the kicker—it was Senior Night for the Bruins. Did the emotion of the occasion fuel her record-breaking performance? You be the judge. But before you decide, let’s hear what Chiles said in the post-match press conference.

Jordan Chiles delivers on the seniors in the Bruins
Jordan Chiles is an emotional individual. Her individuality has never taken a backseat in any situation. Notably, Chiles entered the press conference with her favorite senior (or Canadian! pun intended), Brooklyn Moors, and let the world watch how much she cares for her seniors in Bruins.
While talking about her seniors, the 23-year-old said, “For me, it was knowing that I was supposed to graduate with this class. I was supposed to graduate actually with the class before as well. So it’s like, knowing that they have put so much work and effort into what they have established not only within themselves as athletes but just as people as well.”
The words almost made her weep: “I’m gonna start crying.” But she had something more to share.

What’s your perspective on:
Did Jordan Chiles' emotional connection with seniors fuel her record-breaking performance on Senior Night?
Have an interesting take?
Since the beginning, Jordan Chiles has known the seniors’ contribution to making the Bruins a pleasant home. She has been in the mix since January 2022. So for her, it has been easy to watch names like Emily Lee, Chae Campbell, Brooklyn Moors, and Emma Malabuyo closely. Had she not missed college for elite gymnastics, she could have been in the same line. So, this realization made her feel the situation more.
Jordan eventually said, “We have the ability to understand that we all have different paths, and they supported me as much as I supported them. So all the emotions was definitely being able to, you know, show who the seniors are and how much work they put in and not only just them being students. But also as athletes.”
And now, after this season, the seniors will take their own courses in life, and Jordan will stay behind with the flag. Did Jordan feel this?
The subject led the former world champion to say, “There was a lot of emotions, especially going into the last rotation, I was like, I don’t know how this is gonna work, but we pulled it off, and I’m very proud of them.” Now, guess what was the Bruins’ last rotation?
Jordan dropped the top score (9.950) in the events from the Bruins. So, have you received your answer? The coach, Janelle McDonald, however, had saved a few big things to share at the end.
UCLA Bruins coach spotted the change this time
Since the beginning of this ongoing college gymnastics season, the UCLA Bruins’ gymnastics coach has talked about the concerted approach relevant to bringing victories. In January this year, while interacting with UCLA’s YouTube podcast, she said, “We have a lot of people ready to go and compete and so they’re competing hard every day to show consistency.”
On Sunday, she remained more up to the point to reveal the Bruins’ lifeline this season.

In the post-match press conference, the R.C. Rothman UCLA Bruins head gymnastics coach claimed, “I can’t say enough about our senior class. They’ve been through so much in their journey as Bruins, had a lot of change throughout the course of their career. Going into this year, they decided they wanted to leave a better legacy than they walked into.”
And everyone has spotted the change this season. On Sunday, 12, 918 saw that magic once again on the mat. Jordan Chiles also showed her capability and emotions on the same day. A treat for every gymnastics fan? Let us know in the comment box.
