Alysa Liu’s return to the ice was nothing short of mesmerizing. She showed off her incredible skill and unwavering determination. And it wasn’t just the fans who were captivated. Her fellow skaters couldn’t help but take notice, too. But how did Alysa’s rival feel about this stunning comeback? The answer might surprise you.

Amber Glenn clinched her first national title, and she did it with style, landing that tricky triple axel. But when Alysa Liu made her stunning return to the ice, it was clear that Glenn had a hard time matching her rival’s incredible performance. Liu is one of figure skating’s brightest stars. Her return to the ice has only added to her legacy. After all, despite being away from the ice for 2 years, her return at the US Figure Skating Championship felt like she never left.

She skated her heart out in the women’s short program. And landed straight at the top of the leaderboard. It was like she had wings! She skated so well that she left Bradie Tennell and Amber Glenn, who were expected to lead, behind. Her performance earned her a score of 76.36. Amber Glenn, who everyone thought would shine, had a bit of a stumble right at the beginning of her short program. But while the triple loop got her some points, the rest of her night wasn’t up to the mark.

And this grading caused much distress to Amber Glenn. She shared her disappointment, saying, “As you can tell by my reaction, I was quite disappointed. I did not feel the attack or adrenaline going out there today,” Glenn said.

“I came into this event trained and ready, but definitely more fatigued and not quite as… exhilarated as I’d like to be, especially compared to the Grand Prix and the final.” Amber talked about feeling “more fatigued,” which shows how a grueling season with all those Grand Prix events can drain your energy. It seems like it hit her hard just when she needed to be at her best. But she does not give up.
