Jordan Bowers has emerged as one of No. 1 Oklahoma’s most successful gymnasts this season. In 2023, she was named a regular-season All-American and ended the regular season ranked No. 5 in the all-around nationally. Born in 2003 to John and Tracy Bowers, Jordan grew up with her sister, Felicity. She began gymnastics at just two years old in 2005, setting the stage for a remarkable athletic career.

Jordan started her gymnastics journey at Solid Rock Gymnastics in Lincoln, Nebraska. She quickly advanced through the levels, reaching level 10—the stage where gymnasts typically decide whether to pursue the Olympics or collegiate gymnastics—by the fifth grade. Throughout middle school, Jordan competed in both level 10 and elite competitions, often facing off against high school-level athletes. At just 14 years old, she committed to the University of Oklahoma, drawn by its renowned coaching staff.

Her junior career was filled with impressive achievements. At the Pacific Rim Championships in Colombia, she won the all-around title, surpassing 2020 Olympic gold medalist Sunisa Lee. She also dominated at the Junior Pan American Championships in Argentina, earning five medals: four golds and one bronze. As a freshman at Oklahoma, Jordan quickly made her mark, becoming an NCAA first-team All-American on floor and a second-team All-American on vault and bars. At the NCAA Championships, she finished in second place on the floor with a 9.9625. Her outstanding performances also earned her two Big 12 Gymnast of the Week honors and five Big 12 Newcomer of the Week titles.

Continuing her legacy, Jordan joined OU legend Maggie Nichols as the only Sooners in program history to earn five regular season All-America honors (first-team in the all-around, beam, and floor; second-team on vault and bars). She was one of just three gymnasts in the nation to achieve regular-season All-America honors in all four events and the all-around. Additionally, she won the Norman Regional bars title with the best regional score in program history, achieving her first career perfect 10 on bars. Jordan has solidified her place in the Sooners’ history books, ranking among the top 10 in program history for career titles on the floor (11), vault (10), and bars (9). With eight all-around crowns this season—fourth-best in program history—her total of nine career all-around titles places her sixth-best in program history.

With a stellar career and a bright future ahead, Jordan Bowers continues to elevate Oklahoma gymnastics to new heights.

She has been a constant support in her life.  When she suffered a back injury following her Pacific Rim triumph, her mother, Tracy, was by her side as the doctor explained the severity of the situation.
