Home/Gymnastics

Audrey Davis broke through the headlines when she was awarded the SEC Gymnast of the Week in the latter half of January. She ended the 2024 NCAA season as the No. 1 ranked gymnast on bars to end the regular season. The three-time NCAA All-American has also kicked-started the 2025 NCAA season with a bang, marking a 9.925 on the vault vs Missouri on January 17, 2025. All this for her second home, Oklahoma.

Home has always hit close to the OU senior, be it the land of flowers or the land of Many Nations. Davis has never failed to acknowledge how important her home has been in her journey as a gymnast, and how her direct inspiration has come from her home every time she fell. But who are these people who make this home of the 2024 AAI Award Finalist?

Who is Audrey Davis’ father?

We all know the old saying, right? A father’s most precious treasure is his daughter. It was no different for Parker Davis when he was blessed with his baby girl, Audrey on 3rd May 2002. Parker has always had so much love for his daughter, which completely reflected in her. Audrey’s entire pre-game ritual is dedicated to her father.

Speaking of her pre-game ritual. The OU media student told flogymnastics, “I have a specific picture of my dad and me that I bring to every meet and put in my locker. I talk to my dad before the meet, as it calms me down and grounds me before the day ahead.” Having your dad in your locker room, talking to him to ground yourself…that is heart-touching Audrey.

The student gymnast also brought attention to her, rubbing her stomach before every event, she continued, “You will also notice that I rub my stomach before every event. In that moment, I tell myself that I’m doing it for him.” Truly, this daughter-father relationship is on a different level.

Does Audrey Davis's story prove that family support is the ultimate key to athletic success?

Have an interesting take?

Sadly, Parker Davis is no more among us in this world, but his legacy lives on in his daughter, who sees him as her idol. “In life in general, my idol is my dad. He was so strong and embodied strength and determination.” But it wasn’t her dad alone who gave all the happy memories to the OU star, she had a loving mother.

Who is Audrey Davis’ mother?

Parker found his parter-in-crime, the love of his life, the mother to his daughter in Katherine Davis. Katherine was a great mom, and she pushed her daughter when she saw the talent in her, bringing her some of the happiest moments of her life.

It was Katherine who gifted Audrey with her very first gymnastics memory. The Seven-time WCGA All-American said, “My mom took me to mommy and me classes and I would beeline out into the gym and straight to the beam.” She had a fearless time there, never caring about injuring herself.

I’d legit run back and forth on the high beam, having the best time while all of the other kids stared at me in terror. I was always moving and not caring.” Perhaps it is cautious carelessness that molded the 4 time NCAA champion into what she is, perhaps this is where her fearlessness on the bars comes from and as for her gentleness, it has to be her hometown, the land of flowers.

Where did Audrey Davis grow up?

La Florida, Spanish for the land of flowers; is what the sunshine state of the USA is named after. And the state has given a lot other than the crocodiles; this is the state where the 2022 NCAA runner-up on bars was born and brought up. Audrey was born to Parker and Katherine in the very city that houses Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, the land of theme parks, Orlando.

The athlete has much love for her hometown, but in her very own words,” Florida will always be where my roots are, but Oklahoma is where I found my wings.” You can’t really disagree with after all she won her 4NCAA championships here and with Oklahoma leading the table in the 2025 season she maybe be heading for the fifth.
