Summer of 2020, a young girl, a former junior national team member, came to Baton Rouge. 5 years later, now a star gymnast of the LSU Tigers, she graduated from the university. With a degree in interdisciplinary studies, an NCAA championship, an SEC championship, and countless TikToks later, the time has come for Olivia Dunne to say goodbye to the LSU family and carry forward the 5 years of memories. Surprisingly, this 5-year math for some people doesn’t add up. However, Dunne knows how to take care of these people.

A troll commented on Dunne’s TikTok post on March 28, 2025, “8 years of college btw.” Now anybody who knows the sport clearly knows Dunne spent 5 years in college, 4 for her degree, and then one COVID year. So it’s quite not understood where the 8-year math comes from. Olivia ignored all that and straight up asked the person, “What’s it to ya.

In the TikTok that she posted, she could be seen celebrating the SEC win with her LSU teammates. She posted multiple clips of the celebration with the caption, “Mentally still here“. It had Taylor Swift’s Right Where You Left Me playing in the background. Sadly, this is not the first instance that she has been trolled over the years she spent in college.

In 2025, only one critic chose to spoil her senior night moment, they commented on one of her posts, “Don’t worry, you’ll be a senior for the next 10 years.” They were too asked about their business regarding her college years. Again, hit back with a, “Why do you care?” which was part of a whole video posted on Dunne’s TikTok.

She said in the video, “I don’t really understand what’s so hard to get, I came to college in 2020, got granted a fifth-year because of COVID and I came back for the fifth year. I only see this comment on female athletes’ posts, and why do you care if I come back for a fifth year and have another year of eligibility? Like, why do you care?” It is a very justified behavior from Olivia, especially after she’s trolled for almost everything.

Olivia Dunne vs Trolls

To start with, the former junior national member has been insulted with words like ‘Bench Warmer’. Just because she had an injury and could not participate in LSU SEC win. The influencer has been out of the competition since January 24, 2025. Currently, she is recovering from an avulsion fracture of her patella. Another instance was when she just made a post on Instagram.

It was a promotion post as she captioned, “chillaxing in @vuoriclothing blissblend form”. She posted three pictures dressed in purple leggings and a top to which a comment red, mid, meaning average looking. Dune hit him back with a “your last name has the word clown in it.” The username of the troll had the word ‘clown’ in it. Dunne is one such individual who is even criticized for doing what her job is.

But despite all these instances and criticisms, she has been standing tall. Every criticism that comes her way gets tackled either by her actions or her performances. She got called greedy to return to LSU for one final season, turns out she donated her scholarship. They said she was not good, she delivered a 9.825 on the beam in the 2025 season opener and that’s not even her forte, her signature floor routines are regular guests of 9.9. Paige Spiranac, former professional golfer and social media personality, addressed hate over Dunne once. She said, “@livvydunne is getting hate for making 2 million a year. She’s built a successful business (at 20) all while being a student-athlete. That’s bada–.” There is no doubt Dunne is a great performer both on and off the floor and being good at something always attracts some jealously born hate. We would love to know your opinion about Dunne as well. Do leave a comment.
