Georgia Gymnastics has left everyone excited and curious. A surprising coaching change has caught the attention of the whole community. A new face with a history has stepped up into the spotlight, changing the game. This change has raised a lot of questions. After all, it will reshape everything that lies ahead for the program.

The unexpected coaching duo of Cecile Canqueteau Landi and Ryan Roberts has a reaction mix of emotions. Some scratched their heads, trying to figure out who these new leaders were. For someone like Cecile, the Georgia stars didn’t even know who she was. Others were doubtful about what lay ahead. Is there a potential for something entirely different in gymnastics for Georgia?

Yes, there is. That’s because Cecile is more than a simple replacement. She is the former coach of none other than Simone Biles. She has years of experience at the highest level of elite gymnastics. When the head coach position at the University of Georgia opened up, it was a turning point for Cecile.

It was her conversation with Ryan Roberts, who was Georgia’s then-assistant coach, that brought them to this decision. Autumn Reginald is also a reason for worry for Cecile. Autumn has just registered himself with Georgia at that time. But his future is uncertain now. This was due to the removal of the former head coach Courtney Kupets.

Lily Smith, a member of the Georgia gymnastics team, is also confused because of this news.“It’s kind of funny because a majority of us didn’t know who Cecile was. So when our athletic director told us, I legitimately didn’t know at first when I heard the name. I thought it might sound kind of familiar, but I had no idea. I said, ‘Oh my gosh, no way.”

Smith said in an interview with ESPN, “I remember thinking, ‘We’re going to be coached by Simone Biles’ coach?’ That’s truly the best you can get,” she added. Even Lily Smith didn’t immediately recognize the name. The announcement of Cecile’s hiring was a surprise for her. She didn’t see this coming, given Cecile’s incredible record. Smith was the SEC Freshman of the Year last year so we can trust her.

Even though some of the gymnasts didn’t know about the legend, with her arrival, there is hope for an exciting new era for Georgia athletes. Moreover, her journey to this has been nothing short of inspiring.

From gymnast to legendary coach, Cecile Landi’s journey

Cecile Canqueteau Landi’s path from gymnast to one of the most respected coaches shows her passion for the sport. Cecile has competed in the Atlanta Olympics as a French artistic gymnast. She has also competed in several World Championships.

Her coaching philosophy has a focus on the importance of both physical and mental well-being. Her unique approach has shaped NCAA programs, while every athlete she’s worked with has emerged as a bright star. Alyssa Baumann and Madison Kocian both have also been trained under her.

Cecile has made remarkable achievements in her career. “I think I’ve done everything I could do in elite, and beyond what I could ever have imagined as a little French girl in a little town,” she said. “I’ve coached the greatest of all time. I have coached many kids. I’ve had many great athletes in the NCAA and elite that I feel like I want to try what’s next, a new challenge,” she added.

Having coached some of the best athletes, including Simone Biles, Cecile has a feeling of accomplishment. Despite her success, she loves taking on new challenges. She wants to push past her boundaries even though she has already achieved so much. With her arrival in Georgia and given her experience and passion, the question is whether she can lead Georgia Gymnastics to even greater success.
