“I typically gravitate towards classic, laid back styles”, said a 16-year-old Simone Biles when asked about the kind of fashion she leans forward to. Little did that teenage Olympic gold medalist know that one day she would become a diva by beating Taylor Swift herself in the fashion race. That’s exactly what happened when Simone Biles & Jonathan Owens got their invite to be at the Met as 2025 Costume Institute Benefit Host Committee. And Taylor missed out on the list. 

After the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles isn’t missing any on showcasing her iconic fashion sense. And one of the way she is doing it is by turning into a cheerleader for husband Jonathan Owens as he played for the Chicago Bears. The Bears might not had a successful season but her WAG outfits did stir up the NFL world. Little did Simone know then that she’d end up going to one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world. But hold on, this won’t be the first time for the Gymnastics GOAT to step into the fashion world.

Yes, you heard it right! Simone made her debut at the Met Gala way back in 2021, merely months after one of the biggest moments in her career – her ‘twisties’ episode at the Tokyo Olympics. While that moment itself was enough to bring a revolution in the gymnastics world, by starting a conversation around mental health. Her aura on the red carpet of Met 2021 was completely something else! 

The 7x Olympic gold medalist was wearing custom AREA x Athleta, which was an 88-pound dress designed by Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk of AREA. Needless to say, the couture turned out to be as beautiful as it can get to rock the theme of Met 2021 – In America – A Lexicon of Fashion. Brand partner of Athleta, wearing that 88-pound dress made Simone feel even more empowered. In her interview with the Vogue during final dress fitting, she said, “How do I feel in the dress? It’s definitely heavy, but I feel beautiful, strong, and empowered.” 

And that’s exactly the purpose of the three-in-one outfit. It consists of a hand-embellished skirt covered in Swarovski crystals which weighed 88 pounds; a minidress underneath; and a glittering black catsuit decorated to look like a starry night sky (though each of the stars is really Athleta’s logo, the chi).

Even after almost 4 years we can’t stop talking about her 2021 Met look and it seems, it’s the same for the GOAT as well. Just a few minutes back Biles took to her Instagram and added three stories to showcase some unseen moments from her fitting and the Met Gala itself. Posting the first picture, she wrote, “throwback to my 1st time @the met gala ❤️”. The second picture consisted of three of her pictures put together on the stairs of the Met with the caption, “2021  just me & my 88 lb dress”.

But, but but, one picture of the same would leave everyone shocked, the good shocked. It showed Simone wearing only one part of the three-layered dress, definitely dropping some significant pounds off of herself. Now, however much she lost, this can only be told by the GOAT herself. Maybe someone can ask her the same this time around?

While the Gymnastics GOAT’s customized crystalized dress for Met 2021 was indeed one of a kind, it will be worthwhile to see what she comes up with this year! Till then let’s refresh our memory of her NFL outfit.

Simone Biles customized NFL outfits

Last year just before Christmas, while heading toward yet another game of Owens, Biles sat down for an interview with ‘Olympics.com.’ Therein, she let out her thoughts about what goes on in the making of her NFL outfits. “Honestly, I reach out to some of the creators that make the apparel, and I have no ideas. I let them kind of freeball it, and I say, ‘Surprise me.’ And then that’s how I piece them together”, said Biles of her outfits.

Little did we all know that the best of her NFL outfits to cheer for Jonathan Owens was coming on December 26, the Bears game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Bears lost that day, but Simone’s outfit with Owens’ face all over it became a win.

As she walked onto the Soldier Field with Owens’ face all over her outfit, Simone proved that she takes the role of being an NFL WAG quite seriously. The custom-made outfit by Kelly Daley, featured a white and blue-themed hooded sweatshirt with identical wide-leg cargo pants, paired up with stylish white pumps. But that was not it, she teamed the classy luxury suit with just the perfect accessories! She carried a white mini Chanel bag and had her hair elegantly done in soft curls!
