A common link with sports might be a healthy factor for the lovebirds to find compatibility. But coming from different sporting backgrounds and dating each other always available might not always be possible. The professional engagement might cause geographical differences between the couple. Example? Enter Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes. In mid-February 2025, the couple is surely facing the fangs of such a problem. Yet they are trying to shake off the impacts as much as possible. How? Here comes their update. 

On February 15, Olivia Dunne made a post on TikTok, mixed with emotions. The post had a clip with the gymnast facing the rough end, thinking about finding a suitable time to spend with her boyfriend, Paul Skenes. But the hard reality let her realize that such a moment might not come in the upcoming weeks.

Meanwhile, with a heavy heart, she headlined her post with the lines, “Me laughing til I remember I’m doing long distance until my season is over.” Her hopes to meet Paul in the places and support him in the matches crumbled because of the upcoming schedule in LSU gymnastics. 

On the other hand, the pitcher from the Pittsburgh Pirates is already in the spring training program. In the coming weeks, he will have to serve bigger duties as the MLB season is on the brink of taking over. So, like Livvy, he will also have a jam-packed schedule in the days ahead and could miss her events. A dead end for a picture-perfect couple! However, Olivia and Paul are not among those who easily give up facing adverse situations. Instead, they are apt to find moments despite having a busy schedule. 

On February 16, such a sight came in when the couple spent time together. As per Olivia Dunne’s Instagram story, they went to a beach to make the couple-time memorable and cherished each other’s company. Before the Pittsburgh Pirates’ first spring training game (scheduled for February 22) this season, it might be the last meet of the couple in person. So the fans may not disagree with the luck part of the story. But last meet as in? Bring in the Tigers’ gymnastics schedule in the upcoming days. 

On February 14, the Tigers matched up with Oklahoma on the home turf. Olivia Dunne didn’t find a place in the lineup; although her program won the gymnastics battle. But her absence in the match doesn’t allow her an off from the practice sessions. Livvy will have to stay on standby and join all the drills in the gym. Also, the need for it can be realized as the Tigers are moving to their next match scheduled on the road, against Kentucky (on February 21).

After that, the program will wrestle with George Washington, Georgia, and Auburn on consecutive Fridays. So an off time is something hard to follow, Livvy. However, last year, things remained different. She had the option of attending key matches played by Paul. Then what did go wrong this year? 

Olivia Dunne is going to miss her ‘nervousness’

“Boyfriend. I’m nervous,” Olivia Dunne lip-synced in one of her TikTok posts in May last year. Actually, the post came on the eve of Paul Skenes’ MLB debut last year. To her misfortune, the game against the Cubs came off a soggy pitch, where it was paused and postponed in the middle. But Livvy didn’t stop to showcase her energy.

On that day, she was there in PNC Park to cheer for Skenes loudly. In an interview during the match, she gave a sneak peek into her emotions. She confessed she had some early nerves but was able to turn them into joy. She remarked that she had the “most confidence” in Skenes and believed in his hard work.

“I just have the most confidence in him [Paul Skenes] ever, so I trust in him and what he’s put in, and I’m just so excited,” Livvy conceded in front of the camera. In the game, Skenes played a prominent role in Pittsburgh’s 10-9 victory. But how could Olivia grace the audience seat in that game? Didn’t she have obligations? No, she didn’t have one.

In fact, last year in May, Livvy was way past her gymnastics duty for the Tigers. So, she had all the time in the world to attend Paul’s game and be the loudest cheering. Eight months later, when Paul is on his way to make another big attempt, Livvy will miss that. Saddening!
