Jordan Chiles might land something huge in the coming days of college gymnastics. No, it’s not about the points or winning a tense match against a ranked opponent. It is something bigger than that. A recognition of the effort put on the mat! Then it must be about a title, right? Speaking of titles, Jordan has made a habit of earning those laurels this season.

Last week, Jordan Chiles joined teammate Frida Esparza to be announced as the Big Ten Conference Gymnast and Co-Event Specialist of the Week. The award stood to be the Olympian’s fourth this season. In the coming days, she might add a few more like this. But there is a bigger award slated to grace this season. The floor is open for guesses!

New award coming soon? NCAA analyst drops massive hint

In the coming days of college gymnastics, will there be any changes in the list of prizes? Certainly, there will be. But what about in the ongoing season? A million-dollar question! Fret not! Olivia Karas has the answer. In the YouTube podcast, ON THE FLOOR with Liv & Cor, the NCAA gymnastics announcer and analyst hinted that there might be an addition to the list of season-best prizes in the ongoing season. And what is that? Olivia said, “There’s never been a specialist of the year that’s going to change this year there’s going to be a Big 10 specialist of the Year award.” Exciting! But what will be the criteria for filtering out the names among hundreds?

Olivia had a faint idea about this because it was too early to map anything. But she again shared something substantial, “It’s going to be voted on by coaches just like the other awards are so that is super exciting.” A process much above to be questioned! However, being a former gymnast, she has hopes for the award. She is the one engaged in the mix to gather the related information and provide that to the authorities to take the call at the end of the gymnastics season. Superb approach! But how does Chiles come into the picture? How does she have a better chance of winning the title?

Jordan Chiles might be on the front row to claim the title

First things first, let’s have a look at the UCLA Bruins’ undisputed reign in the Big Ten Conference this season. On February 23, the Bruins had their last Conference gymnastics duel of this season. Well, they kept it memorable by winning the match against the Michigan Wolverines. Thus, they kept a clean slate with a 6-0 result, and guess who played the key part in bringing such a result?

Of course, the 23-year-old Jordan Chiles. In the match against the Wolverines, she fell, stood up, and won the challenges. How so? She started the day facing a fall in the uneven bars event but ended on a high note. In fact, in the floor exercise event, she dropped a massive 9.975, winning the title of the highest scorer in the event with Brooklyn Moors. Not only that but a week back, her all-around performance against Penn State stood to be the needed oxygen in the clutch moment of the match. In the end, the victory against the ranked opponent shifted the Bruins to the second position in the national rankings. The Oregon native is undefeated and that’s straight facts!

While other key names have found it hard to score a single perfect ten, Jordan has two in her purse. Moreover, Haleigh Bryant could have been her fearsome opponent. The defending NCAA All-Around champion has every might to take the competition to another level. But this season, her injury has been an issue. However, things might change in the upcoming days. But as for now, time is running out fast for Jordan Chiles’ rivals to secure a place in the coveted list.
