It was in October 2024 when the British Olympic bronze medalist, Alice Kinsella, posted a picture of her hand and created a buzz in the gymnastics community. Why? Because she had a ring on it. 5 months later, she’s back at it again. The Olympian once again creates a buzz with another Instagram post.
What’s this time that forced the three-time Olympian Becky Downie, to comment, “Congratulations Al 🥹 such amazing news 🤍”?
“A new chapter of our lives is about to begin…“, wrote Alice Kinsella in an Instagram reel dated March 19, 2025. The reel, which has Chris Stapleton’s Joy Of My Life playing in the background, featured an instant camera and then there were pictures of the Olympian with her husband and a picture of her stomach which seemed like a baby bump!

To confirm it, she posted pictures of her ultrasound showing the developing structure of an embryo. Oh, is it not the joy of her life!
Notably, the 24-year-old who once won a Commonwealth Games team title as part of England’s gold-winning team all-around squad of 2022 is now pregnant. The post was made in collaboration with her husband, Will Lvain; the two were engaged in October when the man went down on one knee in front of the Olympian on a beach. Lvain is the Co-founder & director of Headspace Barbers, a hair salon located in Aldridge, England.
Everyone congratulated the couple, ranging from family to Alice’s fellow gymnasts. British Gymnastics complimented them in the comments of the reel, uploaded it to their story and even announced and congratulated the couple on their website as well citing, “Everyone at British Gymnastics would like to congratulate Alice, we’re all super excited to continue to support her life journey.”

Have an interesting take?
Fans were not behind in hailing one of their favorite gymnasts, but they also hoped for something else. Something that even the Tokyo bronze medalist found happiness in.
Alice Kinsella amused at the thought of competing!
Alice Kinsella, that gymnast, was last seen in the summer of 2024 when she swung on the bars, balanced the beam, and graced the floor in the Paris Olympics. She finished 12th in the women’s all-around final. So fans were pretty excited about the return of the Olympian to the sport, but Kinsella was amused at the thought.
After the pregnancy announcement she tweeted, “It did make me giggle when you guys thought I was competing… I’m so sorry🤣🤣😭😭😭”

It was funny because people foresaw the gymnast making a comeback announcement. But what came in was pregnancy. Think of those who expected to see her return to the meets, only to know that she is pregnant and won’t be doing that for many months to come now. But does that mean she is not coming back? Is she done? What was her response to when she considered competing again or if the chapter was closed now?
Alice cleared the air over the question of her gymnastics return with three words, answering a related question she tweeted: “I’m not retiring!”
There you have it.

The Olympian is going nowhere. One day, she will be back swinging, balancing, and dancing and join the elite club of mom gymnasts. The elbow injury couldn’t stop her and neither would this. The only question is when?
Not until the latter half of 2025 as well. We will see her in LA in 2028. After all, she’s become a prominent part of the national team up to 2024.
