Sitting in an Uber, reality hit her hard—just four seconds took away her years of hard work! The Olympian’s individual Paris bronze medal was no longer hers. Just imagine how devastating it would have been for Jordan Chiles. Flooded with emotions, she just did not know what to do. Silently crying her heart out, she stepped out of Uber and took a walk. And probably it helped her to process her emotions and accept what she heard just a few minutes back. A common way to deal with stress, right? But it’s not the only way Jordan manages her emotions. And the gymnastics queen has revealed it all!

On 28th February, Jordan Chiles shared a talk with ‘THE CUT’ in the pretext of her upcoming memoir ‘I’m That Girl: Living the Power of My Dreams,’ set to be released on March 4. During the talk, Jordan Chiles shared something very interesting about how she manages stress and unwinds from the pressures of being a gymnast and a public figure. She said, “I stick to myself. My couch is very comfortable. If you see me in the corner of my couch, I’m watching Netflix—Stranger Things or anime—and letting my brain wander.” Doesn’t she sound like the girl next door?

But how did she achieve it? Well, the answer lies in what she said next: “I taught my brain to separate my sport, my business, and my life.” And maybe this is the reason why, despite the challenges, Chiles has continued to shine, both academically and athletically. As a student at UCLA, she has made her mark in collegiate gymnastics, securing two perfect 10s in the NCAA 2025 season for uneven bars and floor exercise. Not only that, but she also possesses the ability to compartmentalize and balance her demanding schedule. “When I’m at the gym, I focus on the gym. When I’m with my publicist or my agent, I focus on business. And when I’m at home, I focus on my life,” she explained.

But I have found a way to separate my lives. Sometimes I’ll journal, sometimes I’ll draw, sometimes I’ll go on Pinterest and imagine what my wedding will look like,” she further added. Now, we have something more to learn from the gymnasts!

Jordan Chiles says her lifelong dream of achieving an individual medal at the Olympics is still very much alive, even after the whole medal ordeal. I’m allowed to want a lot of things for myself,” she says, as reported by ‘People’ on 28th February. “Of course, an individual medal is something I continue to strive for. Chiles, part of the first all-Black Olympic gymnastics podium, proudly standing alongside Brazil’s gold medalist Rebeca Andrade and her silver medal USA teammate BFF Simone Biles, became a part of history in Paris. However, just days later, she lost the bronze medal she had earned for her floor routine after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) determined that her coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi’s inquiry. She challenged the difficulty rating of her routine, noting that the inquiry was filed late—past the one-minute deadline.

While the controversy surrounding her medal remains unresolved, Chiles continues to push forward, balancing her roles as an athlete, student, and businesswoman. Whatever the future holds, one thing is certain: she isn’t backing down from the challenges that come her way.
