They say a mother’s love knows no bounds, but Gina Chiles takes that to a whole new level. She’s the definition of getting your back in every sense. Whether she’s cheering her heart out in Tokyo for her daughter, picking up the pieces after Jordan Chiles’ bronze medal was stripped in Paris, or screaming her lungs out at NCAA meets, Gina is always right there for her Jordan.

And even when Jordan’s battling a high fever but still pushing through with her spark, Gina is the first to show up and stand strong. That’s what a ride-or-die mom looks like. And after seeing her daughter score another perfect 10 with such a health condition? You can’t blame her for feeling on top of the world!

On 1st February, Jordan Chiles wasn’t feeling her best, she had a 104-degree fever but she wasn’t about to let that stop her. Despite being sick, she stepped up and delivered a flawless floor routine, earning a perfect 10. It was her second of the season and 10th of her career. It was like a flu game moment, where nothing could hold her back.

Even though she was battling through the sickness, when it mattered most, she showed up big time, hitting that perfect score and leading UCLA to a win. But seeing this, Gina couldn’t help but share an emotional message. Gina posted a super sweet pic on X of Jordan smiling in a white leotard after Jordan scored that perfect 10.

She wrote, “It’s the joy for me! I’m amazed EVERY single time. Watching you figure things out over the past 6 months has been both hard and beautiful. You’ve had to be so patient with yourself, and that’s not always easy…” You could really feel the emotion behind her words, just soaking in how far Jordan’s come despite all the struggles.

Well, Chiles’ performance was praiseworthy, as Jordan Chiles stepped up when UCLA needed her most. She led the team through a nail-biting competition against Michigan State. Despite a few struggles on the balance beam and bars, Chiles remained steady. She scored a 9.925 on vault to keep the Bruins in the game.

The Bruins were neck and neck with Michigan State, but Chiles’ floor routine in the final rotation was the game-changer. Her performance helped UCLA end strong, finishing with a 197.300 to narrowly beat Michigan State by just 0.100. Freshman Riley Jenkins also had a standout moment with a near-perfect 9.850 on vault, contributing to a season-high score of 49.350. And how could Mama Gina not feel proud? After everything her daughter has been through in the past five months?

Jordan Chiles’ fight for justice after Paris heartbreak

After the heartache in Paris, where Jordan Chiles’ bronze medal was stripped due to a late appeal, she’s been fighting like a champ to get what she feels is rightfully hers. In Paris, she was a key part of Team USA’s gold medal win and even snagged a bronze on floor exercise. It was a moment that should’ve been the perfect cap to an amazing experience.

But her appeal turned out to be filled after the time limit. And for this, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) took her medal. The medal was returned to the original bronze winner, Ana Barbosu. Since that ruling in September 2024, Jordan hasn’t stopped. In January 2025, she filed two more briefs with the Swiss Federal Supreme Court, continuing her fight to get her medal back.

Her legal team is arguing that the arbitration process wasn’t fair, especially because the arbitrator, Hamid G. Gharavi, has deep ties to Romania. They’re saying that there’s a clear conflict of interest and that the decision wasn’t impartial. To make things even more intense, Chiles’ team found out that USA Gymnastics’ counsel didn’t even receive Gharavi’s independence form.

This could change the direction of her case. The new information gives her team something to work with. And fans are all in, cheering for her to get the justice she deserves. Jordan’s not backing down. She is making sure her voice is heard. And she is pushing for fairness irrespective of the results. Her fight’s far from over, and she’s proving that she’s not giving up on what’s hers.
