Jordan Chiles is turning out to be a living example of optimism. After losing out on her Paris medal, Chiles was heartbroken. However, all these experiences helped her significantly to cope and mature. Thus, when the UCLA Bruins could not get their hands on the NCAA Gymnastics title, Chiles refused to frown. Sure enough, starting from the 12th position, the Bruins did a great job in reaching the finals. In fact, at one point, the Bruins did look like they were securing their first championship since 2018. But even when that did not happen, Chiles could be seen beaming!

The UCLA Bruins faced the daunting task of toppling the Oklahoma Sooners. While the Bruins hoped for the Sooners to falter, they were too good to make a slip-up. Dominating all the rotations in the night, the OU danced away to victory. At the end of the meet, the Sooners’ accumulated score came down to 198.0125. Finishing tantalizingly close was the UCLA Bruins, with 197.6125 points.

Meanwhile, with the celebrations going on, Jordan Chiles, too, joined in the extravaganza. She could be seen posing jovially with the runners-up trophy. And not only that, Chiles was pretty much proud of the fact that UCLA was the second-placed team of the night. Talking to the reporters, Chiles stated, “I love y’all. We came out second in the nation. We started on the 12th. This is our bad place. Maybe go out.” And why not? The Bruins showed enough glimpses of themselves to take away the positives.

For starters, the Bruins opened the night by matching the Sooners’ score on the floor. Scoring 49.6125, the Bruins gave some serious hiccups to the Sooners. Some incredible performances were coming in from the likes of Mary McGowan, Katelyn Rosen, Emma Malabuyo, Chae Campbell, and Brooklyn Moors. Owing to the hard work of all the girls, the Bruins delivered a performance to remember.

And this was why their coach, Janelle McDonald, pointed out that being the second-best team would sting significantly. But the one person who was phenomenal both on and off the court for the Bruins was undoubtedly Jordan Chiles.
