Gymnasts have been dominating the airwaves in the American sporting scene recently. And the ones at the forefront of this are Team USA’s heroes at Paris 2024, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey. LSU’s social media sensation Olivia Dunne joins them in their explosive airtime. All of them are just in their twenties and still in college. But that is in no way stopping them from making waves. After all, Jordan Chiles is an Olympic gold medalist. And her compatriot Carey takes it one step further with two golds to her name.

Then there’s Olivia, the social media queen who’s out here making gymnastics look cooler than a TikTok dance. While she wasn’t on the Olympic team, she’s still a huge name in gymnastics. All three of them are some of the hottest names in the NCAA gymnastics scene. But now, with the season reaching its crescendo, it’s about time they picked the pace. And Carey did just that, leaving Jordan and Dunne behind.

In a major shoutout by Forbes, the tabloid extended their praises to the Oregon state gymnast. After all, Jade has been making some serious waves in her final collegiate season. And to add to that, she is still undefeated in 2025. Yes, that’s correct; she has been 7-in-7 so far and is sitting comfortably at the number one spot. But this isn’t just a fluke in rankings, as she has an average of 39.690 for four weeks straight.

That’s enough to keep her ahead of a squad of Oklahoma Sooners and Florida Gators’ Leanne Wong, who has some serious hardware of her own. Oh, and in case you missed it, Jade set the national record in the all-around with a jaw-dropping 39.800 during Oregon State’s win over San Jose State. This girl’s got skills across the board—except, ironically, vault, where she’s ranked 11th.

But hey, 3rd on bars, 1st on beam, and 6th on floor isn’t too shabby, especially when you’ve got an Olympic gold on your resume. Now, here’s the kicker—despite absolutely slaying the rankings, Jade’s still looking for that elusive perfect 10.0. She has narrowly missed a perfect score, earning a 9.975 on multiple occasions, with at least one judge awarding a perfect score but not all.

She has also scored 9.90 or better on 90% of her routines this season. So, yeah, the 10.0 hasn’t made an appearance yet, but if history’s any indication, it’s coming soon. Everyone’s on “10.0-watch,” and if Jade keeps this up, she’ll probably break the internet when she finally lands it. But what about her Olympic teammate? Chiles?

UCLA’s Jordan Chiles is on fire While LSU’s gymnastics rollercoaster keeps going on

The Bruins are straight-up on fire right now! After a shaky week one, they’ve been climbing the rankings like they’re trying to win a gold medal in speed walking. Of course, Jordan Chiles’ return has been huge, but Emma Malabuyo, Brooklyn Moors, and freshman Macy McGowan are giving UCLA the kind of depth that makes other teams shake in their leotards.

UCLA’s officially in the title talk, which is a major glow-up from where they were at the beginning of the season. Oh, and Jordan? She’s got two perfect 10s under her belt—one on uneven bars (1/18/25 against Maryland) and another on floor exercise (2/1/25 against Michigan State). But Olivia Dunne?

Meanwhile, LSU’s weekend was like a rollercoaster—some highs, some lows. After that upset loss to Arkansas, they bounced back with a tricky win at Alabama, proving they can handle the pressure when the crowds aren’t chanting their names. The real stars, though? Haleigh Bryant’s vault return and Kaliya Lincoln’s floor routine. But Olivia? Well, she is not happy with naca rules since week 4 of ncaa.

Week four of NCAA gymnastics was a bit of a rough ride for LSU. They lost to Arkansas, 196.875 to 196.600. Arkansas’ win was their biggest upset since 2011. For LSU, their floor routines were definitely off, with a 9.77 average (compared to their usual 9.93), and Olivia Dunne, queen of TikTok and gymnastics, chipped in with a 9.700. Solid! And speaking of Olivia, she’s been pretty vocal about the new judging system that’s got the gymnastics world buzzing.

Dunne tweeted that the tighter scoring felt like watching a basketball game that’s constantly interrupted with penalties. However, others argue that the goal is to create a more consistent and fair playing field across teams and conferences, especially since the Perfect 10 has become less of a rare gem and more of a participation trophy in recent years. Olivia’s thoughts are valid, but with the sport evolving to be more about fairness, it’s clear that scoring has to balance the spectacle with maintaining integrity—no matter how many seats are empty.

So, while Jade’s taking the top spot for now, let’s see who will be next week’s NCAA star—because in gymnastics, it’s anyone’s game, and you never know when the next perfect 10 might just steal the show!
