Jordan Chiles isn’t losing hope of getting her Olympic medal back. Since September last year, a legal battle has been going on to decide the true ownership of the bronze medal from the women’s floor exercise final at the Paris Olympics. Right now, it is on the table of the Swiss Federal Court to take the final call. Basically, the Court would judge whether the ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will stay or not. And what was CAS’s ruling?
Well, the CAS’s ruling stripped Jordan Chiles of her individual bronze medal achieved in the women’s floor exercise Olympic event. It gave the American gymnast fifth place, reinstating the jury’s initial judgment in the actual event. Furthermore, the judgment nullified Team USA’s inquiry that earned Chiles the edge over her Romanian opponents in the final. The ruling body’s logic claimed that the inquiry was submitted outside the window allowed by the International Gymnastics Federation. This entire scene came as an immense blow to Jordan. The outcome? The 23-year-old gymnast felt helpless. She may have the world champion title. But the situation cornered her, snatching her maiden individual Olympic medal. However, Jordan now wants to break the cycle!
Jordan knows that there are other characters in it, and the outcome might come only from exploring the American gymnast’s side. So, Jordan has no intention of making the legal case her usual life. Instead, she can lessen the impact of the stressful legal battle on herself. But how?

By keeping her mental well-being as her top priority, Jordan Chiles, in her interaction with GoodMorningAmerica.com, said, “I’m doing way better than I was when it first happened…. I can only do so much for myself is really focus on my mental.” Her words have a lot of truth, though. To get the touch of it, you will have to recall the nuisance that followed Jordan after CAS’s ruling.

In August last year, CAS’s ruling took away the bronze medal from Jordan and handed it to Ana Barbosu. Meanwhile, the judgment broke everyone’s hearts. USA Gymnastics and the USA Olympic and Paralympic Committee shared a joint statement to share the grief. But all hell broke loose for the actual character in the story, Jordan Chiles.
After the judgment, the Oregon native became a victim of “utterly baseless and extremely hurtful attacks on social media.” The situation reached a point where Chiles had to resort to a harsh decision. She bid her goodbye to social media. But before moving out, she shared a few things in her Instagram story. There, she wrote, “To add to the heartbreak, the unprompted racially driven attacks on social media are wrong and extremely hurtful.” She further noted, “I’ve poured my heart and soul into this sport and I am so proud to represent my culture and my country.” She concluded her words with four broken heart emojis. And see where she is!

For such a transformation, Jordan Chiles gave the UCLA Bruins the due credit. “[The Bruins] has really helped with that,” she acknowledged. And also, her being part of UCLA motivated her to carry on the legal battle. “I’m gonna continue to fight and understand that I can only control what I can do with myself and let everything else just be on the back end — whether my lawyer and attorney are doing to continue to fight for that,” she claimed. But what special has she been doing in the Bruins to make herself full of life again?
