“There might be a little girl watching someone like me on television and deciding she can do it, to...” Simone Biles couldn’t have wished for anything better than this as she was being handed a special award in Madrid yesterday. And believe it or not, there is a high chance that this prophecy would have come true. After all, she’s America’s most decorated gymnast, and fans love her. Not just her niece, Ronni, Simone is an inspiration to so many younglings. No wonder she’s gone viral again. This time, for a very special reason!
Looks like Simone Biles is on a mission to redefine greatness. She is widely respected for her contribution to the sport, for having initiated the mental health talk, and for everything she’s done for Team USA so far. But this time, her achievement is about her individual journey. Yes, on April 21, in Madrid, Simone Biles won the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year Award. This is because she didn’t just say that Paris will be her Redemption Tour after her Tokyo withdrawal. Rather, she PROVED IT! Three golds and one silver in her 2024 Olympic run—she just slayed.
The aftermath of this honor was that on Monday, April 21, in the late hours of the evening, Simone Biles added a post on her Instagram, announcing her presence at the awards and showing off her black dress in a dimly lit setting that matched the aesthetics, with the caption “Laureus Sports Award (black heart emoji).” That was enough to make her fans go gaga. Some hailed her all-black look. While others patted her back on her achievement. One of them even commented, “THE QUEEN OF GYMNASTICS🙇🏿♀️🖤” Well, with 30 world medals and 11 Olympic medals, we can’t deny that for sure! But hold on, what was so special about her look?

Well, Simone Biles’ Laureus Awards outfit was a complete stunner. It was a formal evening gown crafted by the Saudi Arabian designer Eman AlAjlan. With a corset-like design for the top and with multiple layers of sheer for the otherwise floor-length skirt gathered at the waist, it was an absolute stunner. For accessories, Biles went with simple and dainty diamond earrings, a matching necklace, and a bracelet. She topped it all with a Tyler Ellis black clutch, setting a minimalist but classic style statement.

Here’s what Biles said after she received the award. “I won this award for the first time in 2017, and Laureus has been a part of my story since then.” Of course, she is a bit sentimental about it. With this latest award in 2025, she now equals Serena Williams’ score of the most Sportswoman of the Year awards. And all these details had the Biles squad going absolutely crazy.

Fans react to Simone Biles’ Monday stunner
Commenting below Simone Biles’ post, one of her fans wrote, “There’s something so genuine and lovely about you, you’re truly one of a kind!! Ilysfm Sisi 😍” In her Alevi Milano heels and Melinda Maria jewelry, Simone Biles did not look any less than a style icon. On top of that, she had the brightest of smiles on her face, the one that fans love to see after a successful dismount on the mats. No wonder the positivity she radiated moved her fans, too.
However, another one of Simone Biles’ fans chimed in from Spain, saying, “A magic Night for you and gymnastics. You are an inspiration for my daugther and I. We are so proud of you. I hope you have had a nice time in our country. We ❤️ U.” Of course, it’s a huge honor for the gymnastics community. While Simone Biles, who won the Laureus award in 2017, 2019, and 2020, now won it for the fourth time, bringing gymnastics to the top as a sport, even Rebeca Andrade won the Comeback of the Year award, again a small win for gymnastics. So yes, even the Spanish fans of the sport voiced their love for how Simone Biles is putting gymnastics on the world map.
Simone Biles’ resume now has multiple Laureus awards, winning which, per Mondo Duplantis, is tougher than winning an Olympic medal itself. This shows some serious dominance. No wonder another fan wrote, “You killed it Mone !! Another one for the books 🏆”

But there were some lovers of Simone Biles’ style too, who came in with, “Elegant and flawless! 😍❤️” Well, we know Simone Biles can rock some serious fashion looks. Be it showing up at Jonathan Owens’ NFL games with custom-made jackets having miniature images of her husband or simply rocking her everyday looks in the leos, Biles can do it all. We’ve also seen her play around with the length of her hair, but it looks like the shorter locks are settling really well with her fans.

However, amid all the fun and games, a serious concern came up at the Laureus Sports Awards. Yup, a fan wrote, “Congrats on yet another trophy Simone!!! I’m just sorry you won’t be competing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. But I completely understand. It’s not easy continuing to compete when you’ve won everything there is to win.” Is it true? Well, half yes and half no. Simone Biles did end up saying at the awards’ red carpet that she’s not so sure about competing at the LA 2028 Games.
Yes, Simone Biles left her competition prospects hanging in the air when she said, “A lot of people think it’s just a one-year commitment, but it truly is the four years leading up to the Olympics. It’s in LA, it’s back in the States, which is so exciting. But if I’m going to compete again, I’m not so sure. But I will be at the Olympics, whether it’s on the floor or in the stands.” What do you have to say about this? Let us know below!
