Oklahoma Sooners went up against the very team that has been under the guidance of the coach that trained the most decorated gymnast of all time, Simone Biles: Cecile Canqueteau-Landi, she joined the University of Georgia’s gymnastics program after 3 golds and 1 silver with Biles in the Paris Olympics. The Sooners went up against Georgia on March 14, 2025, not only wrapping up their regular season but creating history as well, with the Beam team going over the top.

Making a total score of 49.675, the beam team had a crucial part in Sooners’ 198.675. This is the best score made by any team in the entire regular season, and this comes from none other than the team ranked no. 1. The Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team took to Twitter to announce the scores of their beam team and good lord, nobody wanted to settle for something less than a 9.9.

Audrey Davis, who’s enjoying her final season with the Sooners, was the first to start things off on the beam, making a 9.9 on the score sheet; Addison Fatta followed her up next, going far and beyond her senior, with a score of 9.95. After that, it was the Freshman Lily Pederson who added a 9.875 on a strong routine.

Bowers, who had already enjoyed a great performance on the vault and floor, continued her impressive night with a 9.95, her third straight score of 9.95 or higher on the event. Ava Siegfeldt went in on number 5, hitting a 9.925 in just her second appearance and also marking a career high. In the anchor spot, Torrez was nearly perfect with a 9.975 to cap off the regular season.

The Georgia Bulldogs did put up a fight though; they came close to the Sooner as the final score closed out on 198.475 – 197.975. The Bulldogs posted the sixth-highest regular-season score in program history and earned season highs on all four events. They beat their season-high floor score by 0.175, posting a 49.675 in the event. Many of the bulldogs like Nyla Aquino, Ja’ Free Scott, Lily Smith and a few others hit their career highs, but they couldn’t get the win. Talking of career highs, this Sooner got two today.

Addison shines as Oklahoma gets a piece of the Title

Oklahoma recorded a season-high 49.625 on vault, taking a 0.250 lead at the halfway point as OU led 99.175-98.925. Though the best performances came from Keira Wells and Pederson, both scoring 9.95, the event became extra special for the freshman, Addison Fatta, who scored her season high on the vault with a 9.90. She just didn’t stop there; the beam was Oklahoma’s star today, and how could she miss on that?

Her 9.95 on the beam marked another career high as well, and this was not it yet. With that score on beam, the Freshman now has a new career high in the all-around with a 39.650, becoming a very key player in Oklahoma’s piece of the title. “CHAMPS! 🏆With tonight’s victory, the Sooners have claimed at least a share of the SEC regular season title!” tweeted the six-time national champions.

The Sooner as of now stands at number 1 in the SEC points table, ahead of LSU with a undefeated streak of  7-1-0, meaning 7 wins and one tie. Their current notion cannot be challenged, not after this win; some other team can tie with them but no displace them. This means that the SEC title might come completely to the sooners or a share of it. The team will now head to the Big 10 conference and the Nationals, how good are they gonna perform there?
