Just when everyone thought that Lindsey Vonn‘s career resurgence would be a myth, she surprised everyone. With a finish that would give even her earlier career a run for her money, she managed to get a podium finish. But again, this was one of the final chances for the 40-year-old veteran. Since her return in December 2024, all she desired was to get her once-world-record tally of 82 victories to go even higher. But now, after a lot of failed starts and a few heartbreaks, Vonn is finally back. And she had quite the message for her fans who supported her.

Competing at the super-G at the World Cup Finals in Sun Valley, Idaho, Lindsey Vonn clinched the silver medal, in what was an emphatic victory. Elated with the win, Vonn took to her Instagram and wrote, “I DID IT!!!! 6 P2!! After everything I’ve been through, I fought my way back onto the podium!! I can’t even start to describe what this means to me… I have been overwhelmed with emotion and support from so many people.” Vonn also thanked all her fans and the ones who had kept their faith in her.

While Vonn acknowledged the fact that she will be enjoying her victory thoroughly, the skiing legend also stated that more such victories will follow soon. Now then, coming to the race, the gold medal was taken by the Swiss skier, Lara Gut-Behrami. However, when analyzed closely, things are looking quite rosy for Vonn. Despite not winning the race, the 40-year-old did not have a lot of difference in her time with the winner.

After all, she was lagging by just 1.29s. And while this was most likely the final race of her current season, Vonn should gain a lot of confidence from the event going into the Milan Cortina Olympic Games. Meanwhile, there were more records that Lindsey Vonn broke. Coming back after a successful knee surgery, Vonn became the oldest one to secure a podium finish.

The previous record had belonged to Alexandra Meissnitzer, who won a podium at 34 years and 9 months back in 2008. Surely, this was the highlight of the season for Vonn. After all, her previous best finishes were a 6th place downhill finish and a 4th place in a Super-G back in mid-January. Looking at the incredible achievement, the fans could not resist commenting. As they took to social media, fans of Lindsey Vonn and the skiing world as a whole showered her with praises.

Fans overwhelmed with Lindsey Vonn’s marvelous achievement

As soon as the news of Vonn’s accomplishment went trending, fans immediately flocked to the comments section to express their support. As one champion secured a victorious feat, another champ wasn’t late in extending her heartfelt appreciation. Track legend and Olympic medalist Allyson Felix took to the comment section of Vonn’s confessional post and wrote, “Congrats!! Always inspiring!! 💛”
