The Olympic bronze medallist, Noah Lyles, talks about the difference between 100 and 200 meters sprinting events.
The 24-year-old American is a professional track and field athlete. Over time, he has bagged several medals in his sporting career. In his previous years, he claimed gold in 200m and 4x100m relay in Doha while competing for the World Championship. Furthermore, he has also earned the title of overall winner in the 200m category in the Diamond League in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He’s earned the same award at 100m as well.

Recently, he secured the third position in 200m, at the Summer Games in Tokyo. Even though his personal best is 19.50, here, he ran with the timing of 19.74. Not only this but also, his best timing in 100m is 9.86. The current world champion is indeed making long strides in his career ahead.

Since the American felt disappointed with his performance in Tokyo, he wanted to redeem himself. He knew he could do so by participating in the Prefontaine Classic, also known as the Wanda Diamond League. The young American admitted that he “had to convince myself to kind of come up here” – referring to his competition at Eugene, Oregon, USA.

Making up his mind, Lyles won the 200m at the Hayward Field at a canter. On top of that, he clocked an incredible timing of 19.52 seconds, which was the ninth-fastest time in history and just 0.02 seconds ahead of his personal best.
After his race, he said, “It’s a nice, tight little bow on the end of the season. I wasn’t really feeling? I didn’t feel like my mindset was really right for today but after at least five sessions of therapy I finally was able to let go of what happened in Tokyo, convince myself that I’m upset and I know that I’m in a great shape to run and come out here and be able to put it down on the track.”

After competing in both the spiriting events, the American has certain interesting insights to offer about the different techniques used in 100 and 200 meters.
