It is extremely difficult to predict who has a better chance since there isn’t much to split between the leaderboard or the style of play. Both these players go neck-to-neck in almost all departments of the game. But the only thing which takes Hideki ahead of Xander is his calmness under pressure.?

We have seen plenty of times Xander struggling to close out a tournament. He tends to lose grip of his game and self-induce problems that mount pressure. So in the final round, with so many competitors who are just behind him, it is not going to be an easy thing for Xander Schauffele to remain calm and hold his nerves.?

However, local hero Hideki Matsuyama will also be under pressure with plenty of expectations from his countrymen. But Hideki successfully handled massive pressure recently at the 2021 Masters to win the green jacket. So, he knows the right way to finish a big tournament which Xander has been failing to do for years.?

But in saying so, never count Xander Schauffele out as he has the ability to turn things around at any time. Moreover, it is not all about Hideki and Xander in the final round, as there are quite a few players who can move up and get a top podium finish.?

Other players in contention

Apart from Hideki and Xander, there are around nine players within four strokes of the lead. So, players like Paul Casey, Carlos Ortiz, Sebastian Munoz, and the former world no.1 Rory McIlroy are just two or three strokes behind and are equally in contention to go for the gold. So the stage is set for a battle royale at Kasumigaseki Country Club on Sunday, and hopefully, we will witness a cliffhanger of a final round.? ?
