Former captain and India A coach Rahul Dravid praised Pragyan Ojha after the left-arm spinner bagged 6 wickets against Australia ‘A’ and the wall is very optimistic about the left armer’s chances of making a comeback to the national side in the near future.
Ojha took five for 85 in the first innings against Australia A and added one wicket in the second innings. Even though the match ended in a draw but there were a few positives for India especially in the bowling department.
Ojha was suspended for an illegal action in December but it was later cleared. He bowled a with a half sleeve T-shirt which clearly is a sign that he is confident about his bowling action.
“It is really great to see him bowl with half sleeve T-shirt. He has taken the bull by the horn and said look I have nothing to hide and I want to bowl with a half sleeve T-shirt. He must be applauded for that as he has gone and said that I am confident with my action, I am confident in my bowling and confident enough to wear a half sleeve T-shirt,” Dravid said.
“For me, that is a really good sign. He had lot of success playing for the country. A lot of cricket coming up. The more he performs and the more he bowls well like this, he is going to keep pushing other people, who are in the India team,” Dravid said at the post-match press conference.
Rahul Dravid feels that both Pragyan Ojha and Amit Mishra have a lot of cricket left in them. While the latter has made the cut for the Indian side touring Sri Lanka for a 3-match test series, the India A coach feels that even Ojha will push for a place in the future. India’s spin bowling department definitely looks solid now with so many quality spinners in the mix.
