Khabib Nurmagomedov ruled the cage throughout his career. He dominated all his opponents and remained undefeated until he retired. While being one of the best MMA fighters out there for a long while, Nurmagomedov had to deal with a lot of attention from the media. He, however, kept his personal life away from the public eye. This was unlike some other stars who bare their personal and social life on the internet. A reporter had once asked ‘The Eagle’ why he kept his family life hidden from fans, and the former lightweight champ had a very honest reply to it.

Nurmagomedov has always been a little different from the flamboyant and star-like UFC fighters. He stayed away from parties and openly talked about his distaste for alcohol and betting. He also tried to keep his family away from the eyes of the media, as he thought he should keep his family away from media scrutiny.

Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed why he kept his family away from the media

While the Russian was still fighting, a reporter once asked him why the media knew nothing about his daughter and wife. The reporter asked,I think that most people didn’t even know that you had a daughter. You have kept this very quiet. That your private life. I don’t even know a lot of people knew you are married. Why is that?”

Replying to the question, Nurmagomedov had a very candid reaction. He was very clear and honest in letting people know that he was tired of the media being on him and wanted to keep his family away from trouble. He said, Because you know I wanna protect my family from media from other like, you know sometimes media is good but sometimes media is crazy, you cannot be very good all the time. Sorry guys but I say it truth. But I don’t want as people to watch on my kids family all the time, this is my life. I am tired about this, that’s why I protect my family from media.”
