It is no news that a lot of pros from the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene are migrating to the latest addition in the roster of competitive FPS titles, Valorant. The North American competitive Counter-Strike circuit seems to have been badly affected by this. It has been quite a while since teams from the North American shone in the competitive Counter-Strike scene.
If you take a look at the top 10 teams in the game currently, only one eSports organization from North America makes the list, that being FaZe Clan.

Tarik, of Evil Geniuses, claims that the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene of North America is dead
Recently, Evil Geniuses pro Tarik posted a tweet claiming that the North American CS: GO scene is already dead. This tweet got numerous replies, many from his teammates from Evil Geniuses. Almost nobody opposed his claim.
He even wrote on this tweet, “PINGING EU CS FOR HELP.” The message here is clear, and, as many would agree, not wrong. The European competitive scene in Counter-Strike has proven itself to be quite superior, even during recent times.

If you take a look at the top 10 teams in the world right now, it is primarily dominated by the European teams and orgs. In contrast, the top 10 teams in Valorant in the global competitive scene, North American teams have primarily dominated it. However, the European eSports organization G2 eSports holds the first position.

Valorant came on the market with the objective of eating up the esports share of the immensely popular CS: GO. While many thought this to be a near-impossible task, Riot has done well to carve out a niche for itself.
Perhaps Valorant is the way forward for North American eSports organizations. The question is, will it truly reach the heights that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has done over the years?
