Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Stoke City midfielder Steven Nzonzi on their official website. Nzonzi has signed a four-year deal with the Spanish side, and the deal is reported to be worth £7 million.

“Sevilla FC and Stoke City have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who arrived in Seville on Wednesday night,” Sevilla wrote on their official website. “The player has signed for four seasons and will have a buyout clause of €30m.”

Stoke added: “Stoke City can confirm that Steven Nzonzi has left the Britannia Stadium to join Spanish side Sevilla in a £7m deal. The club would like to place on record it’s thanks to Steven and offer him our best wishes for the future.”

The 26-year-old Frenchman made 42 appearances in all competitions for Stoke City last season, scoring four goals in the campaign.

Nzonzi joined Stoke City in 2012 from Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £3 million. In his time at Stoke, the player had shown discontent in the past two years and wanted to leave the club. But the Stoke management convinced him to stay on both the occasions.

Nzonzi has finally completed a move to Europa League winners Sevilla, and the interesting thing in his transfer was his release clause of €30 million (£21.5 million).
