Over the years, we have seen Rowdy intimidate his rivals on the racetrack, but last year he found himself on the receiving end of things. Even Corey LaJoie fancied his chances against the two-time champion at the Pocono Raceway. The intentional use of the bumper by the Spire Motorsports driver on the #8 Chevy resulted in a multi-car crash. Kyle Busch collected multiple cars in the late race crash and had to bow out of the race with a DNF, which was his fifth of the last seven Cup Series races. To make matters worse, LaJoie dusted his hands off clean despite adding to Rowdy’s ongoing woes.

“I’m not going to say sorry. I’m not sorry about it because that was the thing. And if the shoe was on the other foot, the exact same thing would have happened, and I think he would probably say that.” Well, a lot of time has passed since this incident, but it looks like neither of the two drivers is willing to bury the hatchet.

Corey LaJoie isn’t keen on making a truce with Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch was pretty tight-lipped about the incident he had with LaJoie after the race. But he opened up on what he thinks of LaJoie as a race car driver on the Pat McAfee show, hinting at a payback. Interestingly, this came after LaJoie tried to reach the RCR star through text messages and calls, but Busch wasn’t having it. “I didn’t even reach back out because he changed his story four times, so I’m like, you’re just a liar. You wrecked me. Like, I get it. It’s fine, whatever. Payback’s coming.” LaJoie has other ideas in his mind.

“I had a dream when I was like day 3 of my fast last week of apologizing to Kyle Busch, and then I woke up, and I was like, nah. I had it in my feelings, and it was like, nah.” LaJoie said this while speaking on the Stacking Pennies podcast. Interestingly, he was all in for the biggest comeback storylines in NASCAR for 2025. He stated that Kyle Busch would be back to winning ways after clinching the crown jewel Daytona 500 race.

“So 2024 was the first in 20 years. I actually also have a hot take in regards to Kyle Busch. NASCAR, as you know, always has its way of getting storylines made for them and delivered. After 20 years of frustration, Kyle Busch wins the Daytona 500.” LaJoie added. Imagine Kyle Busch putting his bumper to good use on LaJoie’s Ford Mustang at Daytona to win his first race of the season. That is another storyline that would send shockwaves across the NASCAR community.

At the same time, the chances of Busch trying to get even with his foe will be slim in 2025, as Corey LaJoie is restricted to a part-time schedule. After being shown the exit door by Spire, the 33-year-old will look to team up with Rick Ware Racing and transition into the role of analyst for Amazon Prime Video. However, he wasn’t too concerned about making amends with Busch, despite making a bold declaration about his comeback.

Well, the former Spire Motorsports driver got a lot of things off his chest before going into the 2025 season. He even explained his reasoning for not opting to drop to the lower series for a full-time ride in Xfinity and the Truck Series.

LaJoie would settle for a top-10 finish on Sundays over lifting trophies on Friday

Ever since Spire and RWR made the mid-season swap that saw Justin Haley take command of the No. 7 car, LaJoie’s chances of a full-time ride in 2025 were bleak. Most of the teams had found their prospects due to the massive shake-up after the departure of Stewart Haas Racing. Moreover, RWR leasing out one of its charters to RFK Racing shut the only possibility for LaJoie to run full-time in the Cup Series.

Team owner Rick Ware was going to hand over the reins of the #51 car to his son Cody Ware, and that is exactly what happened. It has to be noted that LaJoie had been linked to a move to Xfinity and Truck Series, but he had his reasons for settling with a part-time run in the Cup Series. “It’s all about Sunday. I don’t wanna go run F3, I wanna be a Formula 1 driver… Sure, do you wanna go pump the ego up and hold a trophy on a Friday when there’s 12 people in the grandstands?” He said to Bob Pockrass.

He also added that the brands and sponsors associated with him deserve the limelight of a big show on Sundays. “I feel like with every group that I’ve been in, groups that I’ve built from the ground up, any given Sunday, we can go contend for a win, whether it’s just speedway, and we can run top-10 any given week. I can’t also justify to my partners that have been invested in me to go down to the lower divisions cause they don’t get return for their money. They want to bring their people to the big show, not to a Friday or Saturday show.”

It’s fair to say that LaJoie will have his hands full with multiple jobs in 2025. Apart from his partial run in the Cup Series, he will debut as an analyst with streaming partner Amazon Prime Video. Not to forget, he will continue to be featured on the Stacking Pennies podcast.
