Oscar Piastri is scheduled to make his Formula One debut after winning all the big awards in the junior divisions, besides serving as Alpine’s backup driver for a single season. The young Australian driver will take over for veteran and fellow countryman Daniel Ricciardo, who hasn’t had much luck in the MCL36. Due to Piastri’s brilliance and Daniel Ricciardo’s unsuccessful campaign, the 21-year-old had two options. The first was to join Alpine, as Fernando Alonso was about to go for Aston Martin, and the latter was to join McLaren. The young gun, nevertheless, went for the latter. As Piastri chose Mclaren, the controversy expanded widely.

The 2023 season can also be referred to as the rookie season because it will see the entry of three young drivers into the world of professional racing. Nyck de Vries from Alpha Taurin and Logan Sargeant from Williams are the other two, in addition to Oscar Piastri. All three may experience tremendous pressure in the upcoming year. However, since Mclaren chose Piastri to replace the well-known F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, the ex-F1 driver Karun Chandhok claims that Piastri will be under added pressure.
The F1 analyst spoke with Autosport and said, “ No rookie other than Lewis Hamilton has faced more pressure than Oscar Piastri carries on his shoulders. The young Australian ended the career of one of the most popular F1 drivers. Two big teams fought for him and other owners got involved in the discussion.”
The pressure on the rookie in Formula One may have been discussed by experts and analysts, however, from the perspective of the 21-year-old, it doesn’t appear that he is under any stress.

Oscar Piastri, a Formula 3 and Formula 2 champion, will replace the honey badger in season 2023 while claiming that he does not want to find himself in Ricciardo’s shoes. Daniel Ricciardo has had trouble with the Woking-based team for the past two years, and as a result of his poor performance, the organization cut him loose. However, Piastri thinks it’s unfortunate and added that he has no qualms about adapting the orange car.
At the unveiling of McLaren’s MCL60 for 2023, Piastri commented, “Firstly, it’s obviously a shame that things didn’t work out between the team and Daniel. But I think for me personally I’m not concerned about that aspect of things and the lack of experience. Through my junior career I’ve had to change car every single year. I’ve never driven the same car for more than a year. Adaptation is a big strength that you need in the junior categories, and I think that’s been prominent in my [career]. So I think for that aspect I’m not concerned.”
