Somehow, the players are having problems in the 2023 NFL season. Their agony is from the fines that are imposed on the players by the NFL this season. The NFL is extremely famous and very tough with violations or infringements. To add to that, it is quite clear that the league looks for various occasions to slap the players with charges here and there.
The person responsible for fining the players, Roger Goodell, is doing it seriously enough. He inflicts any penalty that he feels like it is right without minding their schedule. It miffed the NFL community that, in week 7, a lot of fines had been enforced. It is no surprise that they’ve turned to social media to express their grievances.

On October 26, 2023, Frank Michael Smith, a popular content creator, decided to take the matter on X. He sadly posted, “We’re only 7 games into the season, and the NFL has dished out $13 Million in fines. The most frustrating being TD cellys… Stop the fines so we can bring these iconic moments back (A Thread).”

The fans and players feel helpless and frustrated about the levying of fines on most touchdown celebrations. Many creative celebrations have resulted in huge fines for the players. This season, the Detroit Lions Running Back Jamaal Williams was fined an enormous sum of $18,566 for thrusting his hips during a touchdown celebration. They also fined former player Antonio Brown for his groin-first, quasi-bear-hug leap while celebrating.
Although these kinds of celebrations may be entertaining, the NFL requires all players to maintain sportsmanship and ensure safety. Besides celebrations, there have been other circumstances they have fined the players for.

The NFL is strict about the matter, but they use the amount generated from the fines to support organisations for anti-bullying and sexual assault prevention programs. What do you think about the fines?
