For a while now, Nintendo Switch users have been complaining about faulty Joy-Con controllers. They have been facing what is being called the “Joy-Con drift” issue. Players had grown frustrated over this and it soon became a major issue (still is, by the way).
Players complained that the controller would read movements and other functions even though users did not move the analog sticks and buttons. However, Nintendo recently issued an apology for their faulty product during this month’s Financial meeting.
What exactly is the Joy-Con Drift issue?

The “Joy-Con drift” is an issue that players have been facing for quite a while now. This issue causes the analog sticks on the controller to freely move around and provide inputs, even when the player is not moving it physically. This issue has been there since the time of its launch. Players have been complaining about it ever since while looking for potential reasons for this issue.
One common reason that the users found was the accumulation of dust and dirt inside the controller. Now, this was not meant to happen as the rubber cap in the controller was meant to protect it. Some players have found that the connections inside the controller have worn out, which may be causing this issue. Either way, Joy-Con had a pretty faulty design, but Nintendo has finally issued an apology for this and will probably look into the issue.

The lawsuit and Nintendo’s apology
A class-action lawsuit was filed against Nintendo, on the grounds of non-disclosure of faulty products. During this month’s financial meeting, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa issued an apology regarding malfunctioning Joy-Con controllers. He added Nintendo is aiming at improving their products but since the Joy-Con is the subject of a class-action lawsuit, he can not mention any specific fixes.

“Regarding the Joy-Con, we apologize for any trouble caused to our customers, we are continuing to aim to improve our products, but as the Joy-Con is the subject of a class-action lawsuit in the United States and this is still a pending issue, we would it like to refrain from responding about any specific actions.” (source: transcript of the Financial Q&A with Nintendo, as translated by Kotaku)
It is true that Nintendo does produce products of good quality. A recurring issue such as this with their product is really bad for their image. The company will, most probably, look into this issue and fix this, now that they have a lawsuit filed against them.
