Epic Games has finally given in to fan demand by removing skill based matchmaking from Fortnite Battle Royale squads. A feature added in Chapter 2, SBMM had disgruntled countless fans as it pulled the game away from the fun goofy title to a more competitive one. Many complained of not having fun anymore, and the debate grew ever louder.
Fortnite has had a hot and cold few months this year. The discontent among fans grew over issues like aim-assist for controllers, stream-sniping, and the devs favoring competition over entertainment. On the other hand, Fortnite also hosted a slew of virtual events during the global lockdown to great acclaim. Travis Scott’s virtual concert, Astronomical was lauded by most as an epic success.
