Sebastian Vettel is standing on quicksand right now. Every weekend is an inevitable plummet further into the worst season of his career. The Italians had left him astray. His confidence deserted him and he was frantically trying to swim ashore.

Although Racing Point threw him a life jacket, it isn’t until next year that they can reel him onto their ship.

Racing Point’s decision may hurt the champion further. Although unintentional, Nico Hulkenberg’s performance within the ‘Pink Mercedes’ paved the way for another painful comparison for Sebastian Vettel. Twitter hasn’t been kind to the German, and this aggravates the situation.

However, from an unbiased point of view, Hulkenberg’s achievement is also commendable. Racking up more points than Vettel by being a sub driver this season deserves applause. Hulkenberg barely raced at 3 Grand Prix this season and stands at 10 points.

On the other hand, Sebastian Vettel could only manage 7 points with a DNF at the Italian Grand Prix. Hulkenberg racked points in both the races, whereas Vettel could only score in two out of the 7 he raced in.

Nico Rosberg had recently outlined the problems troubling Sebastian Vettel. His place at Ferrari got replaced by a rookie. Next, they dropped him to sign Sainz. All this contributed to Vettel being caught up in a negative spiral. His confidence took a heavy hit. An underperforming car with an unconfident racer is a recipe for destruction.
