Nick Kyrgios Set to Skip US Open 2020 Amid Travel Fears Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

Recently, the ATP released a revised schedule for the remaining events of 2020. Due to the grueling nature of this schedule and the coronavirus, many are expecting players to skip certain events. And it looks like Nick Kyrgios is going to be skipping the Cincinnati Masters and the US Open this year.

Nick Kyrgios Out of Cincinnati Masters

In a recent tweet, it was revealed that Nick Kyrgios pulled out of the Cincinnati Masters that is scheduled to be played right before the US Open. This makes his participation at the 2020 US Open very unlikely. However, this might not come as a surprise due to Nick’s comments about the event.

When it was confirmed that the US Open would be taking place in 2020, Kyrgios was furious. He called the organizers of the events “selfish” for holding the event in the middle of a pandemic. From the very beginning, his participation at the event had seemed unlikely.

Nick Kyrgios’ lack of participation is something that the US Open is not going to be happy about. This is because their main concern about the 2020 edition of this event is participation. While players such as Serena Williams and Dominic Thiem have confirmed their presence, there are many who haven’t.

Novak Djokovic is one of them as he feels that it would not be possible to play with the restrictions at the event. In addition to that, defending champion Rafael Nadal’s participation is in doubt. He signed up to play the Madrid Open which starts a day after the US Open making his involvement very unlikely.
