We’re in the early stages of the Wimbledon Championships 2021 and it was Nick Kyrgios up against Ugo Humbert. It was their second meeting this season and the match went in favor of the Australian star again. Nick won the match 6-4 4-6 3-6 6-1 9-7 in a match that lasted close to three and a half hours. 

Set 1: Nick Kyrgios draws first blood

The Frenchman Ugo Humbert began proceedings and took an early 1-0 lead. Interestingly, he got the first break of the match after he broke Nick Kyrgios in the fourth game of the set.

However, Kyrgios had other plans and broke the Frenchman twice, which led to him claiming the first set 6-4 in 34 minutes.

Set 2: Ugo Humbert arrives eventually 

As the second set began, both players were serving brilliantly and did not give a sight of a breakpoint to their opponents. During the 10th game of the set, Humbert eventually broke the Australian player and sealed the set 6-4. 

Towards the end of the set, Ugo committed lesser unforced errors and registered more winners than Nick. It took him 35 minutes to wrap up the set in his favor. 

Set 3: The Frenchman rides on the momentum

Ugo began serving in the third set and with the momentum on his side, he broke Kyrgios in his first service game. Eventually, the one break was enough to hand him the turn the set in his grasp. 

The Frenchman was consistent and registered more winners and fewer unforced errors. After 43 minutes, Ugo was up by two sets to one.

Set 4: Nick Kyrgios fights back

The Australian athlete raised his levels. He served better and was more consistent which gave him confidence as the set progressed. Eventually, he broke Ugo twice and served it out to send the match into the final set. In 30 minutes, Kyrigos took the set 6-1.

Set 5: The Australian star comes out on top

Both players were serving efficiently as the match was in its final stages. They were feeling the nerves and the set had reached the hour mark. At 7-7 in the decider, Nick got the first break. Eventually, he served it out and won the set 9-7.

The winner of this match will face Italy’s Gianluca Mager in the second round at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. It will be interesting to see who comes out as the winner.
