King of controversies, Nick Kyrgios once again landed into trouble after accusing the ATP of being corrupt following his first-round win at the US Open 2019. However, the Australian has now come out and clarified his comment, saying he chose the wrong words.
The ATP replied to Nick’s statements and suggested that they will assess Kyrgios’ allegations and it was expected that the Australian could face a 3-year suspension for denigrating ATP.

The association released a statement which said, “The comments made by Nick Kyrgios… will be assessed under the Player Major Offense provision under ATP Rules. A determination will be made by Gayle David Bradshaw, Executive Vice President, Rules & Competition, following an investigation as required by ATP rules.”
Shortly after the ATP released their statement, Nick Kyrgios posted a clarification letter on the social media platform, where he explained his comments around ATP and suggested that his choice of words were not correct. However, Nick Kyrgios did not apologize in his clarification letter as he elucidated the double standards of the ATP.
The 24-year-old wrote, “I would like to go on record to clarify my comment around ATP being corrupt, it was not the correct choice of words and my point and intention was to address what I see as double standards rather than corruption.”
Actually it's the other players who should call for double standards after all of what NK has been going away with. Like, hello…

Kyrgios also admitted that his behavior is not ideal sometimes but also addressed his issue about the others doing a similar thing and not being sanctioned by the ATP.
He said, “I know my behavior at times has been controversial and that has landed me in trouble, which at times is granted and valid but my issue is around others whether gaining the same, less or more media attention doing the same or similar behavior and not being sanctioned.”
He continued, “That’s my issue and it continues to be. To be clear, I know I’m not perfect and do not pretend to be and I acknowledge I’ve deserved fines and sanctioning at times but I expect consistency and fairness with this across the board, to date has not happened.”
Nick Kyrgios concluded and suggested that he still stands by his beliefs and sentiments. “I’ve had huge support from Chris Kermode and have given it in return, so I want to clarify my comments but stand by my beliefs and sentiments around double standards.”
Kyrgios’ clarification letter did not go down well with the tennis world as many tennis pundits criticized him of accusing the ATP to be having double standards.
Double standards, Kyrgios complains. Can't recall many other players simulating masturbation with a water bottle during a match on live television, telling an opponent on court that a friend "banged your girlfriend", repeatedly tanking and abusing umpires…

The list of players who call umpires fucking tools/potatos AND spit at them AND throw water bottles at them AND throw chairs on the court AND ridicule fellow players on social media AND accuse tennis authorities of corruption:

Is that a sorry not sorry from NK?

NK in damage control… He knows that this time he's really in big trouble. Weird line calling for Kermode's support after having given it in return… And this double standard argument is getting old: no one is acting like he does!
