The Super Bowl might have come and gone but football never stops. Fans got the taste of some football again as the XFL kicked off in a renewed avatar. And in week one itself, the league is giving the football world many things to cherish. One of them is former Cleveland Browns All-Pro wide receiver, Josh Gordon.

Gordon is playing in the XFL for the Seattle Sea Dragons. And a viral flip catch by the WR has put him in the driver’s seat with the fans.

The Seattle Sea Dragons took on the DC Defenders in their week one XFL clash on Sunday. And all everyone talked about was the flip pass, which the Sea Dragons QB Ben DiNucci threw to wide receiver Josh Gordon. While the pass rekindled the memory of the 27-year-old NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, the catch also won the hearts of the fans.

The football universe acknowledged the talent that Gordon has as a wide receiver. Many fans wanted the NFL to recruit him again while others wondered where he could have taken his career if he stayed in the NFL. Here are some reactions.

Gordon caught six passes for a total of 74 yards in the game against the Defenders. But that wasn’t enough for the Sea Dragons as they lost the game 18-22. But the duo of DiNucci and Gordon sure reminded the fans of an insane touchdown pass by the Kansas City Chiefs QB Mahomes to running back Jerick McKinnon.

While Ben DiNucci and Josh Gordon won hearts with their brilliance, it was Patrick Mahomes and Jerick McKinnon who paired up earlier in the NFL season with a flip pass TD. The pair did it in the Week 14 clash between the Chiefs and the Denver Broncos. And it was a 54-yard TD that time as opposed to a six-yarder by the Sea Dragons duo.

Mahomes is known for coming out with unconventional plays in the NFL. He led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win this season and won both the league and the Super Bowl MVP. The fans are surely happy to see such out-of-the-box thinking getting more common in the football world.
