In a recent interview with ESPN‘s First Take, Cena pitched to collaborate with the ex-quarterback Tom Brady in a movie. “I sense that Tom’s a very creative guy,” Cena remarked to hosts Ryan Clark and Christine Williamson, “and he’s not only an accomplished athlete, but maybe a buddy comedy on the horizon. So, Tom, if you’re listening, I’m available and I take all calls, especially from Tom Brady.”

Brady’s forays into the pop culture have further cemented his status as an iconic figure beyond the football field. From cameo appearances in films like ‘Entourage’ and ‘Ted 2’ to lending his voice to beloved animated series such as ‘Family Guy’ and ‘The Simpsons,’ Brady’s presence resonates across various entertainment mediums. Most notably, Brady recently starred as the central character in Paramount Pictures’ ’80 for Brady,’ a comedic romp that followed a group of New Englanders on a quest to witness the Patriots’ historic victory in Super Bowl LI. This venture showcased Brady’s willingness to embrace his celebrity status and engage in lighthearted ventures outside of football. However, rumor has it that there was a time when Brady was apparently “stalking” Cena.

John Cena has often expressed his admiration for Tom Brady’s influence and humorously drawn parallels between their career trajectories. Before Brady’s move from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cena had already relocated from Massachusetts to Tampa, leading him to jest that the football legend was “stalking” him. The playful banter between the two has added a unique flavor to their connection. Clark noted lightheartedly that Brady followed Cena to Florida and “wanted a piece” of his lifestyle. Cena, leaning into the joke, added, “Fan fiction’s a strong thing,” before turning to the camera.

Notably, back in 2021, Cena praised the quarterback’s contributions to the region’s culture and sports legacy. “Tom Brady gave a lot to the area of New England and certainly helped develop what that team stands for, now certainly is striving to rebuild in the same vein he handles himself; with a certain sense of class, a certain sense of sportsmanship, and a certain sense of competitive edge,” Cena stated in a 2021 interview with Forbes.
