After the tragic episode of Damar Hamlin on January 2, the NFL world was in shock and dismay. The 24-year-old’s collapse on the field after a collision with Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins didn’t look that bad until the worst happened. However, with the prayers of the entire sporting world and the tireless medical staff behind him, Damar has made an incredibly quick recovery. Many celebrities took to social media to laud the efforts of the medical staff and the tennis legend Serena Williams‘ husband, Alexis Ohanian, was one of them.
The first few hours were the scariest ones. Damar had to be given CPR for eight minutes on the field after a cardiac arrest. And the Safety remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. However, new reports have come out of the Buffalo Bills camp in the last few hours that will surely put a smile on every NFL fan’s face.

“Credit to all the healthcare workers,” Serena Williams’ husband tweeted after the news of Damar Facetiming his teammates surfaced. The Buffalo Bills shared the uplifting news on Twitter. And Damar Hamlin had the three sweetest words for his brothers-in-arms and the Bills Mafia.

“Love you boys,” Hamlin told his teammates in their first conversation since the unfortunate incident on Monday Night Football.

Alexis Ohanian makes a solid point. And the Reddit founder isn’t the only one. Buffalo head coach, Sean McDermott, also praised the life-saving work done by the first response team.

Doctors say Damar Hamlin initially had a pulse on the field and then lost it.
That’s when Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington started to perform CPR, ultimately saving his life.

Specifically, assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington. Sean called him a “real-life hero” for stepping up under excruciating pressure. Denny is only an assistant. However, that didn’t stop him from saving Damar’s life.

Damar Hamlin damaged his lungs in the injury and had to remain face down for a significant period in the hospital. This enabled the requisite blood and oxygen flow. Moreover, he also had breathing tubes attached for more than 24 hours.
And understandably, his family couldn’t have imagined a worse nightmare. Damar’s uncle spoke to some reporters about their first reaction when they saw it on their TVs. And his uncle described an extremely traumatic couple of hours. Also, driving 300 miles from Pittsburgh through a storm, just to be with his nephew.

However, Dorrian Glenn can relax now since his nephew is out of danger. According to the medical team at UCMC, “Damar’s breathing tube was removed overnight. He continues to progress remarkably in his recovery. His neurologic function remains intact, and he has been able to talk to his family and care team.“
