The ESPN college football analyst put on numbers during his time in the blue and yellow, finishing with 2,146 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns on offense along with three special teams touchdowns as the team’s primary kickoff and punt returner.

Howard went on to score 19 touchdowns in 1991, a single-season record that still holds to this day for Michigan. Desmond Howard undergoes surgery

Recently Howard took to Instagram to share the news of his surgery. As it turns out, Desmond Howard has developed a tumor on the middle finger of his right hand. Despite the setback, Howard has continued keeping his fans well-informed of the situation, and his actions are much appreciated.

“Doc said the surgery went well, the tumor was removed, But as you can see, I am still in the clouds. Middle finger back in action in no time!” wrote Desmond Howard alongside a picture of him hooked on to medical equipment.

Howard understands the comedic angle to his ailment and earlier shared a rather interesting conversation on Instagram.

“Happy Monday! Context is always important. The nurse asked which finger are we operating on? And I responded, “This one”. She gotta good laugh,” said Howard along with a smiling picture of him holding up the finger.

The courage and resilience shown by Howard, won the hearts of many, as fans gathered all over the Internet to offer him good wishes.

Fans pray for Desmond Howard

Howard saw an outpour of wishes and prayers sent his way. Most fans took to Instagram as their witty comments and wholesome wishes encouraged others to join in as well.
