From partying like there is no tomorrow, to his humor, Gronkowski has made a name for himself on and off the football grid. In the crazy list of his work outside football is a lesser-known fact that he once dabbled into the world of horse racing. The four-time Super Bowl champion once invested in a horse that was named after Tom Brady‘s favorite target and then lost it.

When Rob Gronkowski bought Gronkowski the horse

Many fans would remember the time when Rob Gronkowski bought a horse that shared his name. Back in 2018, the then-New England Patriots tight end bought a stake in a racehorse named Gronkowski that had earned his place in the prestigious Kentucky Derby. He recently recalled watching his horse for the first time in a race. That was when it almost won the 2018 Belmont Stakes.

“When he went out of the blocks he tripped and fell and stumbled and he was about 10 yards behind all the other horses at the Belmont. But then, all of a sudden, it just started going by every single horse, catching up and it barely missed first place and took second place in the Belmont race,” he said on ‘Up & Adams’ podcast.

So, Gronkowski the horse was just like Gronkowski’s the tight end, never gave up till the end. But where is it now, after so many years? Even Rob doesn’t know.

“I’m not sure where the horse Gronkowski is right now but let me tell you, he was a stud. So, I’m sure he’s studding out right now,” the TE added.
