With another passing week, the Deshaun Watson saga endures. The Houston Texans’ quarterback demanded a trade from the franchise a few weeks ago. Since then, several franchises have been linked to Deshaun.

Nonetheless, the Texans have remained steadfast in their stance that Deshaun Watson is going to be with them. However, NFL analyst Ian Rapoport revealed that Deshaun Watson’s situation is far from resolved.

As things stand, Watson had a conversation with new Head Coach David Culley. He also pointed to Watson’s cryptic tweet from yesterday, where he spoke about loyalty.

“We woke up yesterday morning with a tweet from Deshaun Watson talking about the importance of loyalty. That was not the only little development we got in the saga of the star Texans quarterback. Deshaun Watson met with new Head Coach David Culley, over the phone.”

Rapoport further added that Watson didn’t actually have a productive conversation with Culley. Rather, it was more out of respect for Culley, who is a first-time Head Coach with the Texans.

But it appears as though Deshaun isn’t the only one who is adamant about his stance on his future. “It was a perfunctory meeting out of respect for an NFL lifer who worked his entire career to be a head coach. There was also no resolution.

“Watson reiterated his demand to be traded and does not plan to be playing for the team in the 2021 season. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans have been adamant they are not trading Deshaun Watson.”

Rapoport revealed that the Texans were not entertaining any offers for Watson. Several teams have made some form of contact with the Texans. However, all of them have gotten the same answer.

Rapoport noted that the Texans do not have any deadline to make a decision, and expected the saga to continue for the time being.

“That is the reaction I have received from many teams that have tried to speak with the Texans. They have gotten a flat ‘no’.

“Here is another important thing. The Texans, I’m told, do not think the start of free agency is any sort of deadline. They may not view the draft as one either. Expect this to take a while.”
