JJ Watt is no longer a Houston Texan. Watt announced earlier today that he has been granted his release by the Houston Texans organization after the two sides came to a mutual agreement.
Watt is now a free agent who can choose to sign for whichever team offers him a deal that suits him the best. Deshaun Watson no longer has Watt as a teammate.
Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson took to Twitter to pay respect to JJ Watt. He called him an all-time great and noted that any team that he plays for will be lucky.

It was a touching tribute to two teammates who gave it their all for the Texans each game. The duo were two of the best players for the franchise. And now Watson is stuck in Houston for the time being.

The news of Watt’s departure came as a surprise to many. While he may not be the player he once was, many considered him invaluable to the Texans’ organization.
And the fact that they were willing to let him go for free is quite shocking. But given the state of affairs within the Houston Texans, perhaps this decision isn’t surprising.

Deshaun Watson pays respect to JJ Watt
JJ Watt’s departure could be good news for Deshaun Watson. The star quarterback has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the franchise.
The Texans did not consult Watson when they appointed Nick Caserio as the new GM of the team, and he felt disrespected as a result.

A few days later, news broke that Watson demanded a trade from Houston. Could he also be on his way out of the franchise? That remains to be seen.
As of now, only Watt’s future is not with the Texans. But the Texans are surely going to miss the former 3-time Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt.
There isn’t much information as to why JJ Watt decided to call time on his career in Houston. Perhaps he just wanted a change of scenery.

It could also be fuelled by his desire to try his luck with a contender and win a Super Bowl to add to his list of phenomenal accomplishments. One thing remains for sure; JJ Watt will go down as a Houston Texans’ legend.
