The construction of the stadium went vertical on Tuesday. Many executives associated with the team watched on as workers kickstarted the steel erection work at the site. For franchise president Allison Howard, it was a real badge of honor.
“We know there are eyeballs all over the world that are watching us, and we do that with pride. I’ve said from the beginning, as soon as I joined this club, that we were going to be that club that literally opens up the blueprints for everybody else to follow because we might be the first,” Howard told KSHB Kansas City.
Howard said that he and everybody at the club hope that there are 50 different training centers and Stadiums for women’s soccer in the next five years. A bit too much to hope but Brittany and her team may well inspire all others to follow suit. That would be a realization of a dream that she saw as a professional soccer player.

Brittany the soccer player
Brittany Mahomes herself was a soccer player back in her college. She broke many records during her four seasons with the University of Texas soccer program, including a single season goal record with 18. She played five games for the Icelandic club UMF Afturelding and found the back of the net twice. But her career failed to take off and she turned from player to owner.
Brittany teamed up with former Philadelphia Eagles star Chris Long and the Kansas City Current was born in 2021 as a part of the NWSL expansion. Last year even her husband and the Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes joined the owners group with her.
