Seattle is one of the 16 cities in which the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held and Russell Wilson has a big role to play in it. The Seattle Seahawks star QB is a member of the executive committee along with his Grammy Award-winning wife Ciara, according to the announcement made by SEA 2026 on Thursday.
Seattle, with a wide fanbase and passion for soccer, is one of the top contenders in the US. The World Cup will be held in three countries across the continent.

To promote the passion for the sport, the committee is taking the initiative to host the World Cup in the Sounders’ home stadium, Lumen Field. The Seattle Sounders who have won the MLS Cup in 2016 and 2019 also have a huge fan base resulting in a wide viewership.
The Sounders have advanced to the league’s championship match four times in the last five seasons. Furthermore, the 2019 MLS cup win was attended by 69,274 fans at Lumen Field. This is an obvious sign of the enormous fan base in the region.
The SEA 2026 website highlights that Lumen Stadium was built to host soccer on this scale. As the site claims that “It’s loud… the loudest. Loud enough to generate seismic activity.”

With the FIFA World Cup being held in the city of Seattle, this will be a huge step forward for the soccer community in the region. However, along with Seattle, the FIFA delegation will also visit Denver, Kansas City, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Houston, Dallas, Monterrey and Mexico this month.
