Tom Brady is heading towards a record 10th Super Bowl. Chasing a 7th ring, the quarterback is in a league of his own. With a 6-3 record in the Super Bowl, few teams have ever been able to stop Tom Brady in his tracks.

But one man did it in far more impressive fashion than any other. And that man is Steve Spagnuolo. The same Spagnuolo who is currently the Kansas City Chiefs’ Defensive Coordinator.

Only one team has ever managed to record a perfect season in the NFL. And that team was the legendary Don Shula’s 1972 Miami Dolphins side.

Winning all of their games to the Super Bowl, no other team in history has been able to replicate the feat. And that was the New England Patriots in 2007.

Led by Tom Brady, the Patriots were the best offensive unit in the league that season. With 50 regular season touchdowns, Brady ended the season as an All-Pro. And with Brady playing some of the best football of his life, the Patriots were a free scoring machine.

The Patriots, 16-0 in the regular season, won all of their playoff games in convincing fashion to reach the Super Bowl. But one team stopped them.

That team was the New York Giants. Handing the Patriots a 17-14 loss in the Super Bowl, the Giants won over everyone with their blitz heavy defense.

And the Defensive Coordinator of that team was none other than Spagnuolo. His famed, ‘NASCAR’ play call was designed to limit Brady’s influence on the game.

And that they did as Brady was sacked 5 times over the course of the game. The touchdown machines, the undefeated season, all gone in the blink of an eye.

Overall, Brady trails Spagnuolo 2-3 across all games. And as the Chiefs’ Defensive Coordinator, Spagnuolo is 2-0 up on Brady. With Brady throwing 3 interceptions in those 2 games.

If there’s anyone who knows how to stop the GOAT, it’s Spagnuolo. And if Brady wants to win that 7th Super Bowl ring, he’s going to have to try harder than ever to get the better of an old foe.
